I'd take a 2yr dealhttps://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing...
A bit more when amortised but less wear and tear costs. Also over a 6yr period you'll have 3 new cars rather than 2, with more flexibility to change cars as your circumstances may change.

Saw some on CHAL earlier for about £149/month (Mad Sheep / Claris / Inchcape). I suspect these will end soon, as it's coming up to month-end, so you'd better be quick I need a car very soon and want to go lease shopping armed with the above info. Gives a reference point to bargain towards

Wind your fking neck in. What you are planning to do is inadvisable so if you don't want to be told as much then don't fking post on a public forum. I had a Golf R for 2 years up until 2 weeks ago so I know the car inside out and it's fine for me. Try a mondeo.
.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Hello snappy..OK so you had a Golf R for a while, did it have the adjustable suspension? If so, please give me your opinion, especially as you claim it's not advisable to have this option but please elaborate as I'm interested, if not well, I've already advised what to do and won't repeat it again.
Once again I'll ask the question again as I don't think some understood it first time round....does the adjustable suspension make much difference to the ride? My wife doesn't like firmly suspended cars so if it's reasonably soft'ish then I'd love to hear anyone's views. Just to put the record straight I'd like a Golf R on a lease deal not a pcp or to buy, just for a couple of years would be fine and I don't mind whether it's a bargain or not but don't recommend a Mondeo or a Skoda as I want a Golf R.
I look forward to some sound advice or assistance preferably without swear words if possible....

Seeing as I have a Golf R on one the cheap deals I will add my two pennies worth. Just a quick point about leasing in general, it is worth keeping the options to a minimum in order to reduce costs, if you can, as you will pay the full price of each option over the term of the contract. I only added metallic paint to mine as the Golf has brilliant kit as standard, way more than most similar BMWs and Audis i've driven.Hello snappy..OK so you had a Golf R for a while, did it have the adjustable suspension? As for the ride without the adjustable suspension, it is very good imo. The damping is superb, I think they got the balance spot on. Not crashy at all, rides bumps very well but then still firm enough to have confidence when pressing on, although there is a limit which you can reach pretty quickly should you be in the mood or you wife for that matter. From what I hear the adjustable suspension does have noticeably different feel to the soft and harder sport settings, I can't comment too much as I haven't driven one with this feature.

No it doesn't make a massive difference. It's an odd choice to go for a hot hatch and complain about it being firm if your wife is going to drive it a lot then perhaps look elsewhere. The golf R is probably the most compliant of all the hatches. On 18s there ride is fantastic. Certainly a lot smoother that a civic, focus or Megane hot hatch and probably a little softer than my 330d m sport. As others have said adding loads of extras to a lease is not a good move financially as you end up paying the full wack for all the extras.
The golf is a fantastic car and I will sorely miss mine when it goes back

As mentioned above, we specced it on our R lease. We only ever drive it In either comfort or race settings (normal is the middle man) so the most compliant to the hardest. I feel a marked difference in the ride changing between the two although it's nowhere as big a jump as in the type r's 'R' mode as a comparison. In comfort, the ride is firm but pretty good for a hot hatch. There have been only a few times in the last 20k miles I've thought I could do with more waft but that was close to sense of humour failure tiredness etc.Hello snappy..OK so you had a Golf R for a while, did it have the adjustable suspension? If we did it again, on the same deal, I'd still be happy to pay the millions extra to have it over the two years. And DSG.

I have a Golf R on standard suspension and 18" wheels. Have driven cars on 19" wheels, and with/without adaptive dampers, and my preference is std dampers and 18s.

Get a ffffffffffflippin golf R. They're GREAT.
Get your good wife a cushion, and tell her to like it or lump it. Or pay a big chunk for the DCC and make her a little happier.
From everything I've heard, the comfort mode dies soften it up a bit, but bot having it in mine s can't give actual feedback. Others will comment that 18' wheels smooth the rise, so avoid 19's if that's a priority.
