Buy a car that you want, not one that ticks a box.

Surely there must be one car out there that really appeals to you.

Unless you have a rock solid in with a dealer, anything thats going to trade for instant overs will be unavailable.

But a low miles 12C or 650S is not going to lose a great deal, though do bear in mind there is a dealer margin involved in the trade. A dealers selling price to you will be at least 10k less than they would buy it back from you the next day

However , do a good deal on the purchase and SOR it with someone like Alastair Bols and you can expect to lose very little

Annual costs are likely 5k ish allowing for a service, some tyre and possibly pads and insurance. Bear in mind a warranty on a car of this sort is £3k p.a.

Newish Ferraris are all under a 7 year warranty and service package, have rock solid residuals too.

Does it have to be a McLaren?

V12 Vantage should hold value quite nicely and be a lot of fun...
Quick - and I wouldn't mind owning one - but not sure that ticks the supercar box?

The mclaren would depreciate really quickly, I'd suggest investing into a supercar which will hold its value, so try to get a build slot for the next generation 911 gt3 rs. The 991 gt3 rs were going for £100k over sticker when they hit the road. But if you don't care about the depreciation then go for it.
So a V12 (handbuilt?) Aston is not a supercar, but a limited-edition-but-fast Beetle is? I am confused biggrin lol

I think there is a certain style to a supercar, which the Aston lacks. (And I'm with you - the overblown beetle isn't a supercar either).

What I was thinking too. But a Porsche isn't in the picture for me at the moment.

I was also thinking Ferrari possibly? Maybe a 458? I'm sure they'd plunge in price some more too Within the next 2 years.
I doubt that. People have been predicting the plunge in 458 prices to under £100k for as long as I can remember and they are nowhere near that. They have been rock solid for several years - and in fact, I browsed them yesterday and thought they'd gone up since the last time I looked (about a year ago).

In theory, 488 prices would force them down - however, the 458 is NA and personally I'd rather have that than a turbo,.

I think 458 prices are safe for a while yet.

Consider getting the McLaren 570.

I checked the other night, and I thought they had dropped? Maybe I'm seeing things. Thanks for your input. I guess I'll need to wait and see. My heart is set on the 570, everything appeals to me about it, apart from some of the McLaren servicing stories I've read on here.
