Nickfrog why the need to sell after 18-24 months?
Because the more often you buy/sell the more often you exploit the initial competitive advantage head start of buying so low - and that is partially thanks to the fact that many don't pay cash or are aware of the high discounts. I sold after 12 months, yielding less than £200/month dep but the sweet spot seems to to be a little further down the line, probably 18 months. It's quite an abnormal situation and is quite specific to this car.

The best deals on this are cash at max discount (circa 23%) plus the BMW FS contribution if you borrow the minimum (£6k) and pay it back after 30 days at no fee and minimal interest. This will return far lower depreciation than pcp/lease IME. But you might have to sell at 18 to 24 months, counter-intuitively.
What kind of figures does this work out at? I thought the 23% discount included BMW FS contribution?

Drove the m140i today - both in manual and automatic - wow what a car - sport mode is unreal - doing a ton before you know it when foot down.

Unfortunately it seems like I'm going to have to wait until September .

My settlement is £20900 on my vw golf r - they offered me £17250 which Means I will be handing the car back to vw - crazy negative equity .

Never had or wanted an automatic but found the BMW version so much better than vw dsg.

Struggle to wait to change now - hopefully the current offers will be supported similarly in a few months .

Welcome to 2017 - the year the car finance market collapses and the economy nose-dives!

For the price after discounts I don't think the m140i can be beaten, the Golf R, Audi S3 and A45 amg all come out more expensive, the latter two much more so. Add to the fact it has the best engine and rear wheel drive it's a no brainer imo.

Can someone confirm what the costs work out at on PCP (allowing for broker discount + BMW PCP contribution)?

I believe Tony (TRL) is still the cheapest and here's a link to his price (updated for Q2 2017) -> http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&am...

I've got a base model m140i and it's fine in the wet - just drive normally and not at 130mph and it behaves like any other car I've owned.

I've not tested one with adaptive dampers but if they make comfort actually in anyway comfortable I'd consider opting for them if I were you. The ride with the normal dampers is mega harsh on poor roads.
