Cars are going up in price, but a M240i for £50k sounds really expensive.
In comparison to the competition they're actually quite aggressively priced, particularly at £43k after discount or close to £40k on the armed forces / NHS / etc scheme if you qualify.

Either way there is no real need to spend £50k on one.
BMW's list prices have been artificially high for years. Most of the range had substantial discounts. The previous M235i and M240i it was normal to get 25% off. They were £30k cars with the key options.

The higher list price and the lack of previous normal BMW discounts in the current climate makes the gap feel bigger.

Yes sure I bought a M135i LCI at 23% although never saw 25%. What I am trying to say is that the M240i is competitively priced compared to its current... competitors. Especially when in the low 40s.

Would you care to show a link to this 13% discount available on a New BMW two series..? My sister in law works for the NHS and has done for many years as a pediatrician, and is aware of certain car manufacturers discounts but she can't
remember seeing 13%..? And never on BMW'S...You give the impression that 13% discount is now readily available on a New M240i..! Not true..! And even If it was when would you get it..? 2025...!
Sounds like your sister-in-law is the one in the dark here. These numbers have been bandied around for a while. I believe there's a similar scheme for Alfas too (including the Quads). 10-15% off the Giulia QV list price is commonplace under the tenuous adherence to their Affinity scheme IIRC.

CFO of my client has an i8 from new. Absolutely gorgeous car. The office car park has the usual teslas, bentaga, M5, Velar, a panamera GTS (company doing very well!), and the only car that still turns heads is the i8. Its probably the only BMW I'd want to own.

i8s are great and definitely fun to drive. I had one for a week and never felt it lacked performance. Later ones have a pretty good EV only range for what it is. Nailed on classic, compared to a downright ugly 2 series, no contest.
