Golf R.... or Scirocco R?

Mulling over going to look at this Scirocco R

However its wholly in to Golf R money, and i suspect the Golf R would hold its value better / be easier resold?

Are Sciroccos too old now for serious consideration (other than say an early 2.0 TSI with sensible miles)

I would say tbe Scirocco would hold it's money more than the MK7 Golf R purely on the fact there is a relatively small number of them on the market whereas there is an abundance of Golf Rs.

Styling aside I think the Scirocco hides it's age quite well but in general the Golf R is the better all round car.

Yes, the Scirocco was facelifted maybe 3 times in it's life but retained the pq35 chassis... not a bad thing. The mk6 golf is a facelift mk5 and a Golf 7 the newer mqb structure.

I also think that over the longer term a Scirocco R could prove a good investment due to the relative rarity. Although that said mk1/2 Sciroccos values lag behind their Golf relatives.

I love it. And you don't see many Sciroccos about (and if you do, they're base models).

Scirocco is based on an older model, is a bit slower and is 2WD. It does have standard leather, nav and dynamic chassis though.

It (and I presume the Golf) is thirsty AF by the way.

Too many golf R on the market, many of them ex lease. The golf tends to attract the wrong kind of attention, from would be car thieves.

I have a Scirocco R on lease, having previously owned a Scirocco 2.0 ltr TSI. both fantastic cars but the Scirocco R is a bit special.

Production on the Scirocco is now finished so rarity value in the future will be a bonus.

Only being 2 door seems to put off the car thieves also.

Golf R is newer and much faster. Get a Golf R and slap a remap in it.

Jeez, I'm all up for modding cars but anything engine wise that can be done to a golf can be done to a scirocco and not everyone enjoys the faux by four haldex systems

Wife has a 17 plate Scirocco R and I had a 65 plate Golf R till a couple of weeks ago. We both much prefer the Golf and have struggled to like the Scirocco, so much so that the wife is going to do an early termination asap and take the hit (did have the A6 Avant ordered but that has gone #A6Gate).

Had a Scirocco R for last 2 years. So much cooler than a golf. Surprisingly roomy too.

Even as a Scirocco R owner, I'd agree the Mk7 R is technically the superior car as it's faster from rest, dynamically better (given the MQB chassis) and more practical.

However... They're everywhere, a lot are driven like chavs by chavs and they look like a Golf.

The Scirocco might look a bit funny from some angles however it's a different looking car. I still get admiring comments towards mine whereas I'm not sure many Golf R owners get the same?

Also, if it matters to you, the engine in the Scirocco is known to be more reliable than the one in the Golf.

Personally, I wouldn't swap my Scirocco R for a Mk7 R.

What are you using it for? I reckon the Scirocco is much better looking so went for the Scirocco R (2010) but I didn't need extra doors or the extra space I'd have got with a Golf.

Does the latest Scirocco have a proper LSD?

My mate Nethers66 had one with DSG. It’s was a great Car except for getting the power down on anything other than dry smooth roads.
