Ok so my plan of a 992 Carrera S may have gone up in flames as Wife wants a new car too.

After ideas on something I can keep in the garage as a summer toy. Needs to do the following:

Budget £45k
Be fun and fast - pref over 400 bhp
Has to fit inside standard size single garage
Comfy enough for European road trips
Reasonably reliable
Preferably 6 cylinder or above

Ideas I’ve had are 991.1 911, Aston Martin Vantage or DB9, late F Type R. Any other suggestions welcome

You might want to measure the dimensions of your garage along with the door opening width, it is all well getting a car in the garage but not if you can't get out of it!

A 997 turbo.

Edit...

If a 991 will fit in the garage...a 997 will.
Plenty reliable enoigh.
More than fast enough.
Easy comfortable enough for long journeys.
Unlikely to depreciate much

Evora ticks all the boxes. They steer properly too.

V8 Vantage! Loved mine and had the most amazing drive over 7,000 miles through Europe. The look and the noise is in my opinion heaven. You can get a really good one for your budget with money left over for any eventual expenses not that I found maintenance expensive. My trip and ownership experience.

The 997 Turbo are not bad value for a 911 - the OPs budget would mean it would be an earlier Tiptronic I guess but the engines on these are solid.

Go see my old 997.2 at Northway, wants for nothing, has done everything you are asking of a car and was a cracking bit of kit for 6 years ... Ray bought it off me in a heartbeat having looked after it for my complete ownership.

Having considered an F Type R (great choice by the way) anf only having a single myself, I am not sure it will fit!

If it does, I think that would be a great option at this price point.

Lexus ISF ticks your boxes, reliability especially. I have a Lexus and they are quite easy to work on. There's a reason that Toyota are the example of how to do engineering correctly in so many engineering courses.

Will a Mercedes AMG GT fit in the garage? There's a few on AT under £50k so a little negotiation and they could be in budget.

Evora, hard to find at your price point but well worth seeking out:

360 Modena:

The F Type R will be the easiest to live with & they do feel special & they're bloody quick:

But it won't feel quite as special as the Vantage:

If you can live with LHD the C7 Corvette with the Z51 pack ticks a lot of boxes:

They don't fit in mine either, but I'd love one though don't get me wrong. They're really wide as you say.

Ah I don't think I've seen one in person, but they are on my car bucket list. Thankfully I have a big garage so should be okay

thumbup

I think they're properly sexy looking things, plus you've got that lovely 4.0 V8 twin turbo engine thrown in too! smokin
