Standard Adaptive Cruise in a diesel barge
Discussion
I've owned a mk7 Golf GTD for nearly 3 years, but I'm now getting a bit bored and have started to look for something bigger, quicker and still diesel.
Trouble is,
A) ive not got the budget to buy new
B) I've got used to my creature comforts and I'm struggling to find cars that build on the spec I already have, the main one being adaptive cruise.
Does anyone know to a "find me a car" search tool where I can search by specification - preferably where it's not an option. I know Audi/BMW/Mercedes list adaptive cruise, but excessive online searching shows them to be a needle in a haystack.
It's an issue I had when buying the golf, but was hoping 3 years on more cars would have included it as standard spec.

I think you'll struggle. Just bought an Audi with "adaptive cruise assist" - dead clever - but searching using AT's keyword search would bring up cars with std cruise plus adaptive headlight assist. Unless there's a specific word like 'cruisomatic' that a manufacturer uses it'd be very difficult to narrow a search down.

All Superb Mk3's apart from the basic models have it. I had one for 100k and it was a great car, 100% recommended
The superb is your answer - I've considered an A6, Mazda 6, Golf, etc - adaptive cruise control and android auto are my 'must haves'. Loads of Superbs about, IMO the SE L Executive is the best spec, bi-xenon lights, plenty of toys, a big infotainment screen. Laurin & Klement if you want ALL the toys.Like the look of the superb, but as with most of the MBQ platform, it doesn't look like they offer anything other than the 2.0tdi though, which would be slower than my golf with the extra weight.
They do a BiTDi Passat, but it looks boring
Was looking more at 335d's, E350's, A6 3.0TDis but was hoping to find a trim that may have the option ticked as standard.

Why not keep the Golf for the dull stuff and get something exciting for when you want to have some fun.
Kinda have that, but being as the Golf Is the daily, I just fancy an upgrade where I spend most of my time. The Arteon has it too https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
It’s not easy! ACC is comparatively rare on premium cars and I’m not sure why. Try finding it on a 5 series for example, it’s nigh on impossible but it’s been an option for many years. I can’t fathom why anybody would pay for something like soft closing doors over ACC, yet the former appears much more often.
I’ve been searching for an E Class with ACC or Distronic as MB call it and even the AUC search on the MB website doesn’t allow you to search by feature and putting Distronic in as a keyword on AT doesn’t really work either as many of those that have it don’t list it in the spec. On recent MB’s ACC is part of the driving assistance package but I’d say at least 50% of cars with that option don’t actually list it in the spec - and you’re starting from maybe 5% of cars having the option in the first place. Some general dealers just don’t notice it’s fitted.
Your best bet is to identify the visual clues that shows ACC is fitted to the models you’re interested in and check the photographs. There is usually something identifiable at the front of the car protecting the radar sensor and something to control the distance setting inside. The ACC logo is also sometimes different. Even this is not infallible - Ford fitted ACC grilles to MK4.5 Titanium X Sport models that don’t have ACC sporadically for example.
On a Merc the grille star is solid rather than recessed on cars with Distronic, and the cruise stalk has a rotary bit on the end to set separation distance. VAG cars have a distance setting on top of the cruise stalk.

Have you had a fiddle with Autotrader?I have just searched, and I go 20,000 odd results to "diesel" and "adaptive cruise" in the little box near the bottom on AT. Of course I am not sure which make, model, body style etc that you want.

Why won't this work for you?

Autotrader picks up on both words separately. Your list of 24,000 cars includes a £750 Renault that has Cruise control and Adaptive airbags.
Do you know, I didn't know that?Edit
I have just tried again. This time I put "adaptive cruise control" in quotes and I got 10,000 odd results. The cheapest is, I think, a Ford Mondeo.

More playing. There are 480,508 cars on AutoTrader
If I select 'diesel' there are 222,649
If I select 'adaptive' in the little box there are 57,086
'Adaptive cruise' 46,006
'Adaptive cruise control' 45,917
'"Adaptive cruise control in quotes"' 20,130
"'Adaptive Cruise Control"' in quotes and 'diesel' there are 10,080.
I really don't know what to do with this information!
