Time for a new car and need some help/inspiration
Discussion
Hi everyone,
I am in the market for a new car and will have around £12k to spend on one.
I am looking for something that is nippy so sub 7.5 seconds 0-60 and can average 35mpg+ I need rear doors as I have two dogs, I guess that's the main areas and good handling for twisty B roads
One main question is I do around 8-10k miles a year so should I stay clear of diesel cars?
Thanks in advance

Megane 250 cup, seems the logical option, am sure a really nice one can be had for that. but the 35mpg average for most petrol cars with reasonable performance maybe a push. Depends on how you do your mileage.. Even a M135i can average that if you trickle about at 60mph on average...I am in the market for a new car and will have around £12k to spend on one.

Thank youAre Megane's 4/5 door? Will check them out if so and the BMW 1 series has been on the list so just need to find the right one, I know 12k isn't a huge sum of money for some people but this car will have to last at least 3-4 years so want something I will enjoy
M135i does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 35mpg if you drive like a granny.
12k is a decent budget and if you ignore your MPG needs, can open you up to a variety of AMG Mercs, M5/M6/M3 and Jag XKR's.
What sort of driving will you mostly be doing - Motorway, A/B roads?
Edit - you say B roads in your post....I'll have a look based on that

£12k is just about mk7 golf money - albeit a little leggy with north of 80k. Shouldn't be an issue, depends if that is a problem for you or not.
It's not a bad place to start looking that should put a firm tick in all your boxes, and generally has the performance/comfort/practicality/reliability/running cost balances right

Isn't this exactly what a Golf Gti is for?!
I like the fd2 civic suggestion but it's a saloon and like hell would I want manky dogs anywhere on the inside like the backs seats.
I saloon that behaves like a hot hatch True about the dogs though!I like the fd2 civic suggestion but it's a saloon and like hell would I want manky dogs anywhere on the inside like the backs seats.
Could a Dc5 integra be dog friendly enough or a call to a dog walking service and get the car you really want.
