Hi Guys,

Quick post during half time of Euros.

I have a CLK 320 CDI on a 2005 plate. Very good car, I very much enjoy drivnig it and it's been ultra reliable and has a bucket load of features:

Xenons, Memory Seats, Heated, Sunroof, Nav, list goes on.

Car looks good too.

Now I'm relly stuck. I don't drive it much so next car is a petrol one for sure, however nothing I can think of beats the CLK for features looks and price. (thought about a CLS) but it's just me.

Other thing is I live in London and my drive to work is very short (so I'm thinking to get a snotter and a 125cc moped)

I really need some help and advise here.

At the same time I've been looknig at SL's and BMW's but cant' think of a single replacement car.

If necessary I'll just sell the car and get a moped. it's not like I can drive very fast in London with the A406 and A40 being average limited now.

I need to decide do I just get a Focus / SAAB / Volvo and relax in a random model of that or get a large petrol Merc / BMW / Porsche.

I'm totally lost, part of me does not want to get rid of this CLK, but I don;t need a Diesel and have to figure out what to buy.

Cheers

If I have to get a AMG it'll only be a C63.

What other suggestions. Not too keen on the CLS500 but did like them before. Have a budget of 6-8k

Was thinking of a 3k e46 330i but they're all molested.

Totally lost.

So an update to this thread.

I've sold the CLK 320 CDI (deposit taken) - I'm really going to miss this car- but I got a good price and even though I won't get another CLK (Non AMG) with all the options (Keyless Go, Digital Climate, Sunroof, Memory Heated Leather, etc etc etc) it's going to a good home and I've released some cash that'll just sit there but hey-ho - I can't afford a C63, so it'll go towards one day getting a larger house / flat.

Now I've had a change of mind and I'm thinking bangernomics / a barge / shed is the way to go - London Zone 2, short journeys, car parks, London roads etc.

I've set a budget of £1000 and I'm either happy to get a petrol car or otherwise do a CBT and ride a moped around London.

I suspect I'll be car less for a while - But I'm looking at stuff like Alfa, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW - Petrol and LPG is cool, Diesel I would prefer to avoid- think it's a pain for short journeys (which I primarily do)

Don't really want a VW / Vauxhall / Anything French or Korean.

Cheers all.

That is a lovely motor, If I get a AMG it's a C63 late 6.2 (say 2014) would fit it perfectly, but I don't have 35k spare.

The theft of bikes does worry me bigtime.

My mate recommends a sh125 Honda, I've thought about it, If i'm getting a bike or a shed car - my budget is 1,000 - not sure if £1,000 gets a decent bike and in addition I'm slightly worried to start riding in Winter in London as the first time, I've ridden a bike before and it was fine, took a 125 around a few roads, felt like a courier. - that;s my gripe with the bikes.

I've got a car park at my flat and it'll be at a work car park, but I know these can disappear in a matter of moments, not sure it's worth it.

Want to look at good cars under 1k, looking at the bargain basement people have picked up 2004 Alfa's and stuff or is this a receipe for disaster?

I've thought about one of them Turbo smart car's but have no idea about them.

Anything goes apart from Estates or ugly 4x4's

Suggestions welcome. Also have access to a garage / ramps for DIY work from my mate if needed. *but I can only manage stuff like Alternator, discs and pads and basic DIY things.

Going to look at Bikes at the weekend and see whats what.

I'll see how easy / difficult it is to do the test too, but for now the CBT will suffice.

I've also had a good look and I'm noticing 2001-2003 E46s can be had for under 999, looking unmolested but slightly higher miles and a little poor paintwork, that said it least it won't feel that bad having moved from the CLK, and in addition I can care a little less - not need to worry when parking at supermarkets and steet if I have a old car with pre exisiting age related marks.

Any comments or feedback on E46 or other suggestions - whilst Japanese cars are reliable I can't stand the interiors.

Saab and Alfa under 999 too.
