Evening chaps.

Currently landscaping the garden in a house I bought last year. It's a pretty huge garden and is a total mess. So far over 100 trees have come down and most of them have been taken away. Now I'm getting a little tired of cleaning the inside of my car, especially as its getting sold in a few months. We'll have 2 cars on lease and so don't fancy chucking all the muck etc in them.

So, the solution. Buy a third car which will be for tip runs and the occasional stop gap for the limbo between lease cars. Budget is about £1000-1500 so not expecting any mod cons. Don't want to spend much more as the car will be used a few weeks a year on short journeys.

There's a new tip opening up 3 miles away in a few months, hence the budget. If it was further, I'd up the budget for more peace of mind. I've been trawling Gumtree etc with no criteria looking for anything that fits the bill.

Found a few good options, but thought I'd ask here as I know people will have much better suggestions. Open to anything.

Thanks for any ideas.

It appears to be an expensive exercise but any old Focus / Octavia / Fabia estate should do the trick.
Extremely so. I was all 'pssh a quick hover and it will be fine' - regretting that decision now. The garden will take about a year so it's a worthwhile investment.

Half of its just an excuse to buy a third car. Don't tell the missus.

Some great suggestions so far.

A HUNDRED trees? OK, so we're talking a properly "pretty huge" garden - couple of acres? - not just a relatively large urban one. So... why not burn the greenery - or get the guys who felled 'em to chip it all, and use it as mulch? Or even just windrow the trimmings and let 'em rot down. If you've not got a woodburner yourself for the bigger bits, then why not flog 'em? Or, if you cba, freecycle 'em.

If I couldn't spare the space for windrowing, I'd be burning, no question.
<thinks> Oh, wait. That's exactly what I did do with the 25-30 that we had down the other year, and will do with the ones I'll be bringing down this winter.

That sort of amount of land, you're going to be doing a lot of burning, so get started now...
It was actually nearer 130 lol. The last 60 foot conifers came down last weekend, now it's time to dig the stumps. I felled them myself. Chainsawed them up and put them into the car. Chimnea and 4inch branch chipper have both also been running full pelt.

It's more so clearing the ground now. There's loads of stumps 3 feef into the ground, dead ivy everywhere, other greenery etc.

I think you're going to need a decent-size digger, not just a tip-run car.
We've already removed a good few. It's back breaking, but can be done. A mini digger wouldn't be able to access the garden as the entrance is extremely narrow and raised.
