So due to a burglary at my home address and my 14 plate Audi A4 Sline being stolen overnight i'm going to be needing a new car I imagine as it seems no one expects my Audi to be found.

The criteria will be something not as common as an Audi, BMW or Merc as they seem to be theft magnets currently, open to most other things, i've been thinking high spec Mondeo, Insignia VXR and Subaru Legacy so far.

A4 size or bigger as I need reasonable rear leg room with me also being over 6 foot and a decent boot for luggage.

Doesn't mater about fuel economy really as I commute 10 miles each way to work across city traffic so petrol would be preferable.

Prefer under 70'000 miles on the clock

I'm hoping the Pistonheads guru's can work some magic here?

I had one before my Audi, therear leg room is poor on them to be honest, i'd need more of a Mondeo size

Didn’t realise s-line specs were getting stolen - always assumed it was S and RS models not just run of the mill models.

Have you thought about VW? The Passat estate is roughly sized between the A4 and A6?
That was my thoughts too about Audi's being stolen, I never worried about it until yesterday morning when I looked out of the window and it was gone.

I may have a look at VW, thanks

The VXR is the closer to the S4 performance wise & isn't anywhere near as desirable as the German options to thieves:

A remap adds the torque that Vauxhall took out to make the engine seem more like an N/A unit.

Second choice would be the Mondeo only because it doesn't have the firepower of the Vauxhall but it is the best FWD steer in this sector.

If you want a true sleeper with (although it's not an estate) fit & finish of the Audi & similar power to VXR then it has to be the Infiniti M in S Premium Spec it comes with everything but the kitchen sink:

Some really good options there, thanks, I think i'm swayed by the Vauxhall VXR and the Mondeo at the moment.

I really like the Octavia VRS but i've driven lower spec models of it at work and I find the rear legroom very limited on them but I may look at it a bit closer and see how comfortable I can get with the seat slightly further forward.

Th Volvo is also an interesting option, I didn't consider that previously.

The Jeep would be bonkers with that engine but I think the fuel bills would scare me and I do like the Infiniti looks but I need a bigger boot unfortunately

If you found the Octavia tight then the Volvo may be a no go, also out of the ones I listed it would be the VXR first & Mondeo second but if you had to be sensible then the order is reversed.
I'm very much leaning towards the VXR at the moment, on paper a least, i've never driven the VXR model.

I've been putting criteria into Autotrader without any make or models specified and the only matches seem to be BMW, Audi or Insignia VXR and the wife isn't going to accept me having another Audi on the drive after the break in.
