Car insurance group for new driver?

My daughter's about to start learning and none of our cars are suitable for her so I've got to buy another car.
Thinking ahead to when she's passed the test and has to get insured - how much difference is there between two relatively low insurance groups?
For example - 1.1l fiesta, 70PS or so - group 5; 1.0 ecoboost fiesta, 99PS, - group 10?
Is there a massive jump group 5 to 10?

Yes, that's exactly my thinking - something that's not going to be crazy to insure when she's passed.
Taking the Fiesta example, I'm sure the little ecoboost is a better car than the 1.1 (and there are loads around, which helps) - but it's no good if it's going to be loads more to insure.

Land Rover Defender 2.5NAD 90" 1988 - £800 PA fully comp, car value £3500.
Renault Clio 1.4 2007? - £1700 PA fully comp, car value £4000.
Honda Civic 1.6 SE Exec 2002 (my first car) - £2600 PA fully comp, car value £675 paid.

For an experiment:
Jaguar XE 2.2 2015 - £997 PA fully com, car value £15'000.

I got the 1.0l Fiesta Ecoboost several years later, great car. If it's cheap enough to insure for you I'd recommend.
