Another buyers guide... 45k to spend used. 70k ish new

So my circumstances are changing and we'll soon be a family of 4 with 2 kids under 3. Both will have rear-facing car seats that are bloody huge, coupled with the fact I'm 6-4 and have my seat pretty far back in most things mean space is at a premium. As a result the GR Yaris is going and being replaced with a big family tank.

I was looking at a Tesla Model 3 through my salary sacrifice at work but I don't think it's going to be big enough. Another strong favourite was the new G80 M3 but they are super expensive and I don't think there'll be enough room, could be wrong.

So I've started looking at big SUV's. The only thing ticking my boxes are Range Rovers and X5's. Drove a Range Rover Sport at the weekend and was quite impressed not as impressed with the X5. That said even the Range Rover didn't have loads of room behind with the seat in my driving position.

All suggestions are welcome what should I be considering? I prefer something that won't lose a fortune but expect to keep it for 4/5 years all being well.

The budget is around 45k for something used (no finance) maybe as much as £70k for new if I look at a decent finance rate like the M3 which was 3.9%.

M5 comp seems a little out of budget but I'd love one. Are they much bigger than the M3?

If it is in replacement of both then I'd definitely be going for something along the lines of the FFRR if it is ticking the right boxes for you. If you're worried about the bills it can throw up then LR do a full warranty scheme on vehicles up to 10yrs old - I believe they need to have full LR history or if it's lacking that you can take it for an initial inspection to check there's nothing major wrong with it prior to them letting you commence with the warranty.

If it's in addition to these then I guess the question shifts over to ask what your priorities are and how much time will be spent amongst your cars. I recall you were looking at 991's and so running costs likely don't scare you too much. Life's too short to compromise unless you have to.

I'll keep the Quad as the wife uses it more than me but the Yaris will need to go.

I'd love a 911 or a McLaren but that will have to wait for now, the priority is a nice big family car, that isn't a stty dad van. (no offence)

I think I'd probably buy from LR to take advantage of the warranty.

EDIT - JLR were a st show to deal with when sorting out warranty issue(s). I would not touch one again with a barge pole, plenty of nicer options out there IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of fast SUV's I just think they're trying to be something they aren't. If I'm going SUV then I''d prefer comfort and toys hence looking at the RR

I have thought a lot about the 340i part of me just thinks I'd wish I'd bought the M3. The M3 estate will come too late for me unfortunately
