I've had a 2011 E91 335d for the last 7 years. It's been fantastic, (just about) big enough for a family of 4, plenty of pace, comfortable etc.

The last couple years has led to me working from home for the foreseeable, and my mileage has reduced significantly. Lots of short journeys has led to inevitable DPF & battery issues. I'm leaning towards maybe trading it in, and always like to be confident in what is next in line. This time I'm really struggling though.

- Need a bit more space so larger than the E91, always preferred estates (1st car E90 touring), but would consider an SUV.
- Budget £30,000 max so would be looking at used.
- Relatively decent performance - around 300hp - Wouldn't want to end up in anything much slower than current - At the same time wouldn't go for anything too performance orientated (AMG, S/RS).
- The tricky one is fuel. I'm guessing for my requirements I should be looking at petrol or electric. Electric still appears too expensive, and petrol seems to limit my options considerably. The vast majority of vehicles that fit my list are diesel, but it's usage won't suit diesel at all...

My options seem to be Jaguar XF Sportbrake 300 (2.0i), the V90 T5, or the V90 Cross County T5/T6.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or opinions on my shortlist?

Cheers.

What about a BMW 540i xDrive Touring?

More space and more performance than you're current 335d.
I figured they would be well out of my price range, but you're right, they're creeping close to £30k. Definitely a good shout.

Golf estate and CLA would be too small. Definitely looking for a size up.

You're right the used car market from 2010 to the last few years seems to be lacking in large petrol vehicles, unless you look at performance models.

A6 allroad biTDI was always my planned replacement before my mileage was cut. Looks like any TFSIs are much newer and out of my price range.

Superb 280 has been on the list for a while too, forgot about that one. That would definitely be suitable for performance and size, Volvo I'd imagine would be the more comfortable cruiser.

Few options to consider, appreciate the input.

Thanks for that, there's a few others there I hadn't considered. Petrol hybrids opens up quite a few options. That Jag feels top of the list at the minute. Just need to get my head round running a 4 pot first....
