BMW 435d Gran Coupe vs 640d Gran Coupe

Currently looking at buying either of the two cars, F36 or F06.
Looking at 15 plate onwards, budget £20k (can stretch it a bit if needed).
The 4 Series just doesn't seem as good value for money as the 6, despite having the same engine in them. 6 has far more standard equipment and interior looks nicer quality (although have never driven one).
Which would you pick between the two? I'm a bit concerned that the size of the 6 Series will make it awkward round town, and that it isn't as practical as the 4 Series being a hatch.
