Correction: title should say FK2!

Hello there.

I'm 2.5 very happy years into ownership of a 2016 vRS 230, it does all the things very well and I'm really fond of it.

Yet I have started to ponder what else is out there.

Practicality is still very important, the Octavia's enormous boot and rear legroom are huge benefits of the package. But could something else offer more entertainment? There's fun to be had in the 230 thanks to its clever front diff and healthy power output (more like 250 than 230).

I started having a nose at Golf Rs and FK2 Civic Rs. The 300+ horses would be nice, but are they different enough to make the change worthwhile?

I could get the Octavia into the 300s with a remap, but I don't want to shorten the life of the turbo, clutch, gearbox etc, so probably shouldn't go down that road.

Have I overlooked any gems? £20k budget.

Fn2s are quite different to a golf r!

Surely the golf is a slightly quicker and less practical Octavia?
Sorry meant FK2.

The Golf can send some power to the rear which sounds like fun.

It's also a lot more stealable, which is less fun.

I would get your current VRS booked in with R-Tech for a stage 1 map. The engine, turbo and gearbox are very capable of the extra demand
Hmm interesting. It is a manual whereas DSGs can apparently handle a bit more grunt.
