Ouch. Still all's well that ends well. Hope you're feeling better (and the other party).
The car will be back and boy oh boy you'll be happy!

Peter, sorry to hear your news and hope everyone is OK and that the damage is repairable. Just a thought but I'm assuming your speed (as quoted in your first post) was within the speed limit at the scene? It's not just the Nobility that read these forums so if not, an edit may be required wink
Definitely. Had passed from a 30 to NSL thats why I moved to make the overtake as she wasn't really speeding up!! As they say that'll larn me!!

I am certain it would have been, thats why I was so upset to be honest. As Joust says cars can be fixed people can't. Thank god it seems like just a minor bump on the head and a cut hand!!!

People can't be fixed by a bit of GRP and metal. Cars can.

Glad everyone is OK and just remember that is what insurance is for.

Take care.

Exactly right. When I smashed my first one I was surprisingly calm about it all.
Did miss it like hell though while I tried to find a replacement.

Did the police say anything to you?
One that attended mine said (while in the back of the ambulance on a hardboard and neck brace) "Well, your driving fell below the standard expected..." (here we go) "...., but we can see you've probably had enough for one day so we'll just leave it there.". Made me smile a bit.
Apart from my fears for the young lady I was pretty calm too. The police basically said it seemed like one of those unfortunate moments that happen occasionally. I'm giving a statement tomorrow so will know more then! Obviously breathalised at the scene and obviously passed/clear as I never have a drop if I'm driving at all!! Seen too many resulting crashes and fatalities!!

Soz to hear about this mate, at least everyone OK, the cars can be easily fixed and back before you know it.

Dave
P.S. Were you running Corsa's?
Yes but had been driving similar roads for about 30 minutes with no problems and much faster than I was going when it all went wrong. Obviously not over the speed limit at any time as the roads were pretty slippy anyway.

A614 as you leave Carnaby heading for Brid. Home stretch goes from 30 to NSL and as I pulled out to cruise past it all went topsy turvy!!!

sorry to hear about this fella, truely sorry. ill keep my fingers crossed that she (the mota) only needs a new face to get her going again, even if it doesnt and they do the worst, look to buy it back if your convinced its cosmetic. Its always the stupid little things isnt it? ive been victim to that curse before now too, ok so it wasnt as frightening but it was v. embarrasing! (bumped into neighbours dry stone wall at about 3mph because i was fannying about with my ipod pulling into my street and the wall came down on the bonnet...been paying for it in insurance ever since d'oh!)

No actual standing surface water but the roads were wet all over.

I wish it were that easy!! Find me a road up here that doesn't have mud on it at this time of year. Throw out a sign which says Mud on Road and walk away!! Thats normally also what happens to the signs!!!

The mud that was around had in the main transferred from the verge and was just enough to catch me out. The edge of the road is about two or so inches above the verge so once the wheel went off there it slid onto real mud and from that moment on I was a passenger straight to the scene of the accident!

I suspect I may do a little 'paying' for a while!! Mind you protected no claims discount so we'll see!!! This will be the test of just how good this Ins Co are!

Sorry to add more bad news Pete but it's a con! Mine was protected no claims - still doubled from £650 to £1300. Still got full no claims tho...rolleyes

ing hell!!!

I gotta be honest, this is the second time i've heard of a member of the public minding their own business and being hit by a PHer in a nice car overtaking them. We've got to be careful out there.

'Course it is. Couldn't be the fault of the person driving the car, could it?

At least wait a bit for him to get over it before you start

Thanks. I wasn't aware i'd started on anyone, 'cos if you read again i said 'we'. I'm no angel and i've got the scars on my face to prove it, but i do feel very much for people just driving along correctly and being hit by someone else, presumably on a nice striaght stretch of road where you'd least expect it.

The girl won't just have a bump and a cut - she and her family will be deeply shocked, and things like this can ruin driving for others. I don't think i'm out of order when i say that i think females suffer more from this sort of thing than men do.

I then got annoyed at the suggestion that the accident was the fault of some hard working bloke who was nowhere near the scene at the time. That comment was not made by the OP and so was not addressed to him in any way shape at all.

But i don't mind saying it again. WE have got to be careful. If we're going out in our lairy car at this time of the year we must be careful. I appreciate that the OP probably thought he was, and that the last thing he had on his mind was that he wanted to damage his car, never mind anyone else, but i still think we should think more about what we're doing at this time of the year.

Personally, if i ever hurt anyone else, i'd be devastated. i reckon it'd be the end of my 'sporting' motoring, tbh.

Well said peter, I live down the road in hull and agree fully with your comments - The state the roads are left in is a joke! Im not saying for one minute it was a farmers fault nor yours! but if someone was pouring diesel over the road something would be said! so why not with mud? It is just as lethal to all motorists. With all your years service you know what the outcome could of been and it was a very different story, she walked away, you walked away and hopefully you will both get over it and move on. Im glad everyones ok and deeply gutted for you and I hope the M400 is back on the road for summer so we can meet up rather than be up for sale! Regards Gary.

So you got annoyed at me did you? For asking a simple question about something I've seen dozens of times? Take you annoyance and shove where the sun don't shine sonny! Pr1ck.

Come on guys,

Peter had a moment we've all had and unfortunately things went bad. If you think back to the close one's you've got away with sooner or later the luck will run out. I'm sure he was driving well within the limits of himself and the car, it's just one of those things.
Everyone got out OK and the insurance will deal with the rest.
