head gasket failure prompts winter rebuild
Discussion
No worries mate, I used to be a skier, saw the light lol.
To bring it back on topic, I drove the noble today for the first time since the head gasket failed at Silverstone. So happy; No leaks which is cool. Up to temp with the fans kicking in and the exhaust isn't kicking out any smoke :-). Just a bit of tidying up tomorrow...

did another 70miles in the Noble on Sunday and no leaks/smoke/misfires etc, all good.
here's a couple of pics of the gearlinkage work i did. still haven't finished the top plate/gaiter but here was the hard work.
The square i cut into the top of the tunnel to drop the gear lever assy into place

here's the jetstream bracket in place inside the tunnel with the cables attached.

here you can see the two bolts holding the tunnel bracket in place on the drivers side. also you can see where i drilled the holes for the lever bracket before deciding to drop it lower in the tunnel. please with the final height of the gear lever

i can honestly say upgrading the gear linkage is one of the best things i have ever done on the car. My old gear change was a bit sloppy, "it's in there somewhere", and now it's tight and notchy in a good way. my mate drove my car before the rebuild and after and he was amazed at the difference. maybe i had a bad gear linkage before but from what i hear others were similar!
Jetstream do not have a website, from what i understand they have too much business from word of mouth. If you want to get in touch drop me an email and i will forward contact details. They are based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield.
here is a pic of the gear stick and bracket (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=26&t=1091482&mid=166257&i=40&nmt=New+shifter+linkage+&mid=166257). look at my post
this comes as a complete unit and you chop the bottom off before fitting. the gear stick has a slightly larger thread on than the original Noble one but i am going to work a way of getting the old gear knob to fit (maybe just run a tap down it).
cheers
James
