rain leaks

Anyone had a problem with water leaking into the cabin when driven in the rain? Went out today in quite heavy rain but no standing water and the carpet behind the "fuse box" panel on the passenger side was soaked. Any ideas how the water is getting in? Windows etc seem fine.
PS Spray from the rear wheels sure stops anyone getting too close on the motorway!!
