Air leak issue?

Hi all, I am currently over fuelling which results in performance loss when accelerating sometimes.

When my inlet manifold blew up, I had this replaced, along with a faulty lamda sensor and a faulty temp sender. I then reset the adaptive map and I could see both lamdas working in unison and the hunting disappeared. All I'm left with is this performance issue.

My mechanic installed the new Bosch fuel pump (with upgraded loom) and replaced the fuel filter and he can still see over fuelling which suggests an air leak somewhere. The seating of the inlet manifold has been checked (three times using various methods and nothing of note).

I am hoping someone could shed light or point me to the info for the following:

Explanation or diagram of vacuum pipe layout.

Should there be a pipe attached to the fuel rail regulator?

Explanation or diagram describing sensors attached to the inlet manifold, which pipes go to which sensor and which sensor is which.

Many thanks for reading and for any replies. cry

I have had compression tests performed on all cylinders and they are all within 5%.

The symptom is when you put your foot down (slow or quick) sometimes it dies and slows down then picks up.

My mechanic has inspected the fuel pump and says it is over fuelling. He had been talking to Trevor until he left the country.

But if you have another idea, it would be welcomed clap

Is it just a momentary hesitation?
Yes, just a whole second

does it do it when you stamp on it or when you do it gently as well?
Both

It occurs whether I boot it or gently accelerate, but not always, say one out of three times it's fine.

i suggest you get it rolling roaded and check the fuelling in real time

where are you based in the country ?
I am based in Taunton - South West, I do have access to RR in Plymouth.
What would a RR show please?

I have been a passenger with laptop driven down the road and not seen anything untoward.

Sorry I don't know when he's back. I believe he's hot testing.

I have some more info: The mechanic thinks it's over fuelling because:

1. He can smell it
2. There is black smoke when idling and revving
3. When approaching 3000 revs it starts to backfire with black smoke and acts as though the plugs are too wet (on inspection the plugs were gapped correctly and black)

Bump... It's fixed biggrin and running better then ever!!!

It was over fuelling due to being on boost apparently. One of the cables to the ECU was showing a 40 ohm resistance which led to a corroded connection. Connections have been cleaned up and is now running smooth. The map wasn't standard apparently (I was told when I bought the car it used to belong to a Noble - don't know if that's true though). They have set my idle to 850 from 700 and set the cold start to 1250 from 1400 and did something with the AC.

So it appears a faulty lambda sensor led to a backfire which blew my inlet manifold into many pieces. Then a split exhaust manifold, faulty temp sensor and a corroded ECU connection was spoiling the performance.

It seems I'm now ready for my exhaust upgrade smile

Then T28's next?
