Umming and Ahhhing about the Model 3.
I've not long changed car so am not in the market right now, but the price of the Standard Range, even on PCP for 48 months on 20,000 miles a year is only around £200 more than I'm spending on fuel alone right now and so would be a consideration.
It's just that I'd REALLY prefer the long range and that isn't justifiable.
I also think I'd probably prefer to wait till the Model Y is available so think I'll just bide my time.

So how much is your current car costing you a month without taking fuel into account (depreciation/lease/PCP cost, maintenance etc.)? I assume that £200 a month more figure includes the deposit on the PCP spread across the term for the Model 3?
In regards to Tesla different coloured wheel choice I think the addition of platinum coloured ones ( wolframite ? pewter ? ) as well as silver and black is a welcome addition to match other manufacturers. They can look really good with some body colours. Variety always a spice of life.

Offering Michelin Cup tyres for it to. I'd recommend not going for these on the road in the UK, the Michelin 4S is already pretty far down the sporting track already for our UK weather.

Note that was done in warm conditions, when it gets cold ( and cold and wet ) then the more sporty Michelin tyres fall off a cliff, or you end up in a nettle patch in my case. Note that Goodyears new range is getting good reviews too. Also an old timer, Yokohama V105 is also good in cold and wet still, unlike the old days.
I think track pack might also be connected to the Nurburgring competition where Elon is still attempting to dethrown the Taycan for some reason only known to himself. You may have spotted my disparaging comments on that thread on that Don Qixote like tilting at German Windmühlen. So perhaps the Model 3 might have a new diffuser added soon, like this ---
The size of those rear tyres too.... Some good weather for Nring from Sunday onwards so I expect them to get the "record" then before the rain returns. They might already have done it but now aiming for Elon's 7 min 05 bench.....
Finally, going back to FSD software / hardware for $xxxxx dollars. Current hardware is v2.5 I think and now v3 is now out for it. So Tesla need to retrofit that and it will take some time for earlier cars. It may well be that version 3.5 or even 4 etc is needed before the software and hardware match up to deliver it. You would not want, legally, to be using old hardware I guess.
The $XXXXX does get put on Tesla's quarterly results though to please the bulls.

I've not factored in repair costs or VED. I doubt it would come in at an additional £200 a month. I bought it for less than £5k, so it owes me very little.
I've also not factored in the £6000 down as that's approximately what I'd be likely to spend on a replacement car if I bought one second hand, so when the time comes to replace this one, I'll be outlaying around about that amount anyway.
and the difference is more than £200 a month for the Long Range which would be my preferred choice.
I wouldn't normally even consider a new car or lease deal, but if the deal can come close to my existing day-to-day running costs, then it becomes viable.

The problem is there is no choice. No one would have an issue with choice.Silver is just gone. Grey is the only "choice" now.

I'm assuming the change is down to a lack of M3P wheels and overstock of gray turbine wheels from the Model S? FYI, may not affect things for UK orders but just in case..

autopilot fked up pretty bad on the a2 for me in the rain in heavy traffic, motor bike was filtering very quickly even thou it was dark and raining heavily and we where going 60, the second he passed me he drifted in front of me a bike width like some bikers and most cyclists do
the car went mental having detected the bike 2 feet in front of it out coming out of nowhere and went into emergency stop mode only backing out when it got to about 20 and the bike was long gone, poor bloke behind me must have shat himself with no visible reason for the car to stop like that

Yeah I've started to only use autopilot with rear camera on, in case of emergency braking. If someone is close behind me I'll turn it off . On balance I prefer the overcaution to a low sensitivity TACC that is much smoother but less sensitive to tangential threats , just about, but it's not ideal. On plus side its easy to imagine improvements to the system appearing relatively quickly.
