Sounds a bummer on the springs though.. I want a soothing waft ride.
The Y isn't that, get an X or etron, or fit air suspension.
Or an S... if you're not hung up on the SUV body style.

The Y is stinking value for money however in comparison on my Salary Sacrifice scheme

I’ve not seen an X on the scheme
Out of interest, is the salary sacrifice scheme run in-house or by a provider? £300/month seems like a very good deal for a Y.

Model S would do that. But AFAIK they're very hard to come by now.

Its a scheme by provider Octopus EV-

I am sure it was £300 a mo when we checked yesterday, but not today. Not only that, the price has varied when checking this morning.
The three I am thinking of are currently (and currently priced) as below.

Tesla Model Y Long Range Dual Motor (5 seat)
70kWh estimated, AWD
255mi top range
varied from £377 to £416 pm

Audi e-tron Technik 55 quattro
86.5kWh AWD
225 mile range
£460 pm

Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo
84kWh AWD
250 mile range
£559 pm

All set to my Powerfully Built salary, 10,000 miles, 3 Years

They have an offer on at the mo that in the 'all in prices below (inc. maintenance, insurance etc,) you also have the Charger / fitting thrown in and 8,000miles equivalent of free power in the first year for home charging, or 5,000mi of out and about charging

I have a demo Taycan Cross Turismo on the drive just now- and what a machine. Middle age mans sports car with practicality (I know it is not a sports car - it weighs the same as the moon, but it has the feel, and the poise / hustle down the road of a modern day sports car - which all way at least half a moon anyway).
I also wonder whether the poverty spec as price above would be as desirable car - and once the pano roof and a few of the features no doubt spec'd on this one I have, would bust that price apart.
I also loath the shoutiness of the White this demo is. In a dark hue I think it would be a very subtle fast express car that has practicality

Is it as comfortable and easy to live with as my A6 Allroad (cream leather, Pano Roof etc) that I have just moved on the driveway for the MrsPushedOver ? No. I dont think it is.

So - need to try the ETron and lastly the Tesla.
All different offerings, and all different pitches.

That price on the Model Y is very tempting!

Did you spec up the E-tron similar to the Tesla? I'm not even going to ask about the Porsche whistle.

My biggest gripe with the Y would be the looks, but my biggest gripe with the E-tron and Taycan were that they felt relatively small inside for their huge footprint.

I have not started to play with Spec's, and never leased before, but from viewing threads on here - once dabbling with the Spec it starts to make liefe more difficult and expensive!

(the Taycan would be very much a treat!)

Not a chance a MY would be on my list at those prices. Even the die hard Tesla fans accept the suspension is too hard and it’s nuts to suggest you could just get an after market suspension setup.

I doubt the etron would be either. The ipace would be though.

£377 for a LR Y is crazy cheap compared to my works scheme, it’s £600+ on there for 5000 miles over 48 months.

How are these schemes varying in price so much?

Is your's net or gross? Some companies price them as the typical reduction in take home pay and some the gross deduction from salary before tax - the difference being quite significant.

Just an FYI but Tesla quote 315m range for Model Y LR

Hmm the I Pace has great suspension but it needs optional air suspension to be really comfortable.
All this based on a third hand comment?

Richard Symons has recently posted a review from a Tesla blogger/youtuber convention in the US - everybody agrees it's too firm is what he says.
Off his list, the etron is over 20% more expensive, the Model Y would be more practical both in cargo and in range, and a fair bit faster.
Begs the question, at what price would a MY be on your list?

RE: the firm ride, most reviewers are test driving MY LR's with the 20" wheels. Would be interesting to try one with 19" wheels.

From a personal perspective when I test drove the Polestar 2 with and without the performance pack, the ride in London was way too hard with the Ohlins. Much nicer without.

Personally I'm waiting for the 7 seat option but that could be a long wait (looking at 2023 I've been told). Maybe they'll have sorted out the "firm" ride by then.

Thanks all

As it happens (sat in a car wash now on the iPhone) the Octopus folks just rang and we chatted on about it all

The Pork shows a 52 delivery (currently- but says it could change)
The Tesla Y I saw yesterday at £300 !! Is a spec they have in stock. White, with black interior. 19s

ETron apparently has a face lift coming.
On the basis our second car - and outgoing - is a 2014 RAV4, is the MY really going to have a nasty ride ??

At £300 p/m I would be all over that. Great deal. On the 19's ride should be ok (I'm making a slight assumption based on my recent test drive of a Model 3 LR on 19's which was superb)

What's the spec of the deal i.e time/miles etc?

Are you it wasn't a 3 for that quote?

I persume you are in the UK with £ quotes? There is no UK Model Y stock. I've got a colleague wanting to have a drive around in our X to have a feel what a Y would be like before ordering.

I have explained the 3 is basically a Y, but it seems people see the Y as a totally separate product to the 3, and closer to the X. Another parent asked at swimming about the Y too, and if it had doors like the X. Tesla PR is doing a great job it seems, am sure Y prices will be going up soon to reflect wider appeal than the 3.

I sure hope prices don't increase frown
I loved the Model X when I test drove it but was just too far out of my price range in 2018 at over £100k. I know you've had one for a few years, have you compared the ride with a Model 3?

I can't wait to drive the Y on 19's and see how similar or not the ride is to the Model 3 LR. Hopefully not too far off and not too boomy (noise wise as obviously bigger inside).
