Are you it wasn't a 3 for that quote?

I persume you are in the UK with £ quotes? There is no UK Model Y stock. I've got a colleague wanting to have a drive around in our X to have a feel what a Y would be like before ordering.

I have explained the 3 is basically a Y, but it seems people see the Y as a totally separate product to the 3, and closer to the X. Another parent asked at swimming about the Y too, and if it had doors like the X. Tesla PR is doing a great job it seems, am sure Y prices will be going up soon to reflect wider appeal than the 3.
Definately the Y.
Octopus have pre-owrdered / secured stock that they are bundling.

I've no idea how they have secured stock of a car not yet available and with no realistic delivery date? Seems like its way into 2022.

As for price once Berlin kicks off it should come down, no 10% import duty from China, castings and structural pack etc

Why would they reduce the price if they're selling well enough at the current price?

I mean it's possible but I wouldn't expect a profit-seeking manufacturer finding cost savings deciding to pass them on to the customer. Competitors might drive pricing, but at the same time the brand is still aspirational and "the" EV brand. You don't see Apple reducing their prices to compete.

You’re right. Some people on here don’t understand business

Costs might come down, but price has virtually nothing to do with cost.

They've reduced price twice here this year because they could.

are those figures based on your salary net cost?

for those earning £100k plus there's some good money to be saved via SS schemes.

£377 for a LR Y is crazy cheap compared to my works scheme, it’s £600+ on there for 5000 miles over 48 months.

How are these schemes varying in price so much?
Is your's net or gross? Some companies price them as the typical reduction in take home pay and some the gross deduction from salary before tax - the difference being quite significant.
£647 net for 4 year 10k miles deal.

£1013 gross

Price is about the market, competition, matching available supply with demand, the only time cost causes a price change is if you’re losing money and it’s usually a slippery slope there after. If you can sell everything you make, why give discount which is effectively what reducing the price is?

Actually the base car prices have really only gone one way. Remember all the way back in 2014 when everyone was amazed people would pay so much £££££ for any EV!!

Back than you could get into a Model S for under £50k, how long before the cheapest SR+ Model 3 isn't far off £50k.

One of Tesla's biggest achievements in recent years is to realign everyones perception of what is 'affordable' as a family car. The Model Y my colleague wants to buy is coming out at £60k. It wasn't that a long time ago the same colleague was shocked at the thought of us spending £70k on an X.

Elon hasn't become one of the richest human beings around by giving out discounts and pushing for consumers rights/fair pricing.

If you're thinking ID4, the Skoda version seems to have a nicer interior and to me looks better externally too.

I ordered a Model Y (Blue, Black interior, 20" wheels) a few weeks ago to replace my current company car (through Lex). The system is currently stating 10th Feb I think for delivery, though in theory I dont need it until Mid-March.

Has anyone actually had chance to see one in the metal in the UK yet? I live 5 mins walk from a Tesla dealers (Nottingham), and they said they were due to get one in imminently, but that was 5 or 6 weeks ago. I'm keen to test drive one so I know what I'm getting in March....

Not sure what your point is there?

£22k to make. £1k to get it to the end customer. 10% duty, then 20% VAT on top of all of that. That's £30k. On top of that are the cost of warranties, after-care service, in-country sales / representation, amortised costs of R&D, certification, and so on and so forth.

£22k to make and £40k to buy sounds like a reasonable deal if you ask me. YMMV.
