What does falling between 2 stools mean?
You bought it then realised you couldn't afford it and st yourself.

Twice.
Love it!

What I meant is it's neither hardcore/engaging enough to be a weekend blaster nor practical enough to be a fun family car.

If you were single, had one parking space and wanted a decent all rounder, you could possibly make a case for it. I think.

Saying that, it's probably the most fun new car at that price point.

I use mine as a weekend car. It’s perfect for me. Doesn’t break the bank, fun to drive, rare to see on the road.
I didnt feel I needed to buy into the generic big bhp & flashy badge brigade to show off to everyone. I bought it for me and it ticks all the boxes in my world.

I adore mine and it isn't going anywhere. Since it's based on the GT, there are mods aplenty should you wish. I'm very happy with how it is now. Drove me to UK 3 peaks last year and was epic. The only thing I hate is how soft the paints are. But once I look past that and enjoy it for what it is, it's superb. Can even carry my dog in it, seats down in his own box. I find it such a satisfying car to drive and more when I daily it. You tune in and really get to know it. Done a few bits like geometry and camber bolts as it was out from factory but doesn't need much for now. It's only the inevitable slippery slope for wanting to change things. Lighter wheels will be next I think.

As for people selling, who knows. There are still those that normally dismiss anything with less than 400bhp and got caught up in the moment. The moment for flipping has gone but people's circumstances change. I do miss the carrying capabilities of my old car but have a Swift which covers off rough work.

I had mine (black) ceramic coated a few weeks ago & the detailer was surprised at how thin the paint is. Mine gets regularly crapped on by birds so having the coating's made a huge difference + it's now really easy to clean.

I want to get the alignment/camber done & an oil change - any recommendations for both (Essex/E London) welcomed.

I did the same and got front and sills PPF'd. The ceramic I got worked for a bit but didn't last as long as I'd liked. I'm resigned to the fact I'll have to get it corrected every so often to keep my sanity.

As a GR86 owner I thought I would give my take on the situation, I ordered mine in the original batch & took delivery in December 22 since then it's been used as a weekend car & still has less than 3000 miles on the clock I never bought it with the intention of flipping it
However I am now thinking about selling simply as I don't use it enough & I am finding it hard to justify having 2 cars & perhaps that's the same reason why some of the others are on the market?
Similar to me.

I put a deposit down with the intention of the GR86 being my only car. It took so long to arrive that I bought a GR Yaris while I waited. I ran both cars for a year or so, neither was particularly great on my daily commute (too much stop / start traffic and occasional kid transport)... and the 86 didn't feel / sound exciting enough to justify keeping as just a weekend toy.

I measured the paint on my car before I collected it from the dealership - it averaged 120 microns across the car. Not particularly thick, but not the thinnest I’ve seen, either.

I’ve toyed a few times with selling mine, as I bought it as an addition to my “toy” fleet (proper first world problems!), and I don’t need it, as such. I’m leaning towards keeping it though, as it is brilliant, does the touring thing well, and handles sublimely - it holds a candle to my Elise in terms of how it gets down a B road.

It arguably falls between a rock and a hard place for me as 911Spanker is alluding to. Not especially quick, or especially light, plus it also arguably lacks specialness as a weekend car, and it is also arguably too compromised to use as a daily as well(not loads of low down shove which generally suits a daily/lacks an element of practicality etc).

A bit of a "no man's land" car if you know what I mean. All that being said, I do still personally like them though.

Don't agree with that at all, it has exactly the right formula for a lovely weekend car: relatively light, RWD, locking diff, manual gearbox and compact. To me it's way more special as a weekend car than say your M3 or an AMG. Higher power is no way equal to specialness.

Absolutely agree with that - the car is relatively lightweight for what it is, and has the right amount of power in my opinion. You can hold full throttle for more than a couple of seconds without getting into illegal territory, and the lack of mass & bright responses tell everywhere.

If you want a point & shoot, sledgehammer of a car, it’s very much not for you.

If you believe is better to extend a car than restrain it, you’re in the right place.

I agree that it is arguably more special than an M3/C63 as a weekend car for sure, and I personally wouldn't use those as weekend cars either. However I'd take both my current weekend cars(370Z Roadster/Caterham 7) over one of these though all day long.

Like everything, each to their own. I'd certainly like a shot in your 370Z or 7 beer

I'm up to almost 12k miles (new Feb 23) and use it as a daily. No compromise at all, I can get to work & back with a bit of fun and get a weeks family food shopping in the boot easily. I'm loving mine

Maybe the dealers have all had the 'ok' to sell their demos?

We were allowed to sell them earlier on in the year (all the GR range demos in fact)

Had confirmation on Friday that our new model Yaris is due to arrive in July driving

Prices have been fickle; all above sticker in late-2022, settled, then dropped because Toyota was fart-arsing about being unclear about the scale of tranche-2 and returns/surplus were sitting in dealers and being discounted in an inconsistent fashion. Things have firmed-up a bit since the last new ones sold. But new cars depreciate, albeit this one more modestly than most.

I get what a comment above notes, it's a car you gel with when you're getting more use out of it. When I'm not driving it much (it's not my daily commute wagon, if I'm busy or the weather is cr&p it sits) I get to thinking "should have all-in'd with an Elise/'7 which would have been cheaper, more focused, etc, etc" but then I start doing more miles and love it again. Benign (because my skill bag isn't deep), 200hp/t is plenty, likes you to make an effort but doesn't demand it - and after a few days that no-man's-land feels like a sweet spot.

Anyway, I came home this evening and saw mine on the street - and my partner hasn't driven a manual in 20 years - so wtf?? But then the reveal...
