Toyota GR Yaris - Official! (Vol 2)
Discussion
Considering a GR Yaris but would like to hear from the taller folk that own one… how do you find it? I’m yet to sit in one.
I’m 6ft2… fairly skinny…. I find a lot of car seats are designed for short people hence are incredibly uncomfortable . How do you find the seat comfort and driving position.
Also curious to know how you find the noise on motorways?
Coming from a sporty Audi I’m really worried the Toyota interior is going to ruin the deal for me…. Need to find a local one to go touch.
Was considering the new golf but I can’t get over the marketing drivel. Adding a giant touch screen and AI is the last thing I want!

I’m taller and seats are fine. Also fit with a helmet. Road noise is loud as it’s on sports tyres and no sound deadening. I’m 6ft2… fairly skinny…. I find a lot of car seats are designed for short people hence are incredibly uncomfortable . How do you find the seat comfort and driving position.

It may depend if you have long or short legs. I'm only 6'0" but with long legs I guess my torso is relatively short for my height and I've never found the a problem and there's plenty of space above my head.I’m 6ft2… fairly skinny…. If you have short legs your mileage may vary somewhat!
As for comfort, I drove about 5,000 km last June including a week in the Alps doing 300+ km a day and always hopped out feeling fresh as a daisy. The seats aren't mega grippy/tight or anything, but they seem to work for me at least.

Seat is fine, position is ok, even with a lid. The passenger seat is far higher, but who cares about that?

The seat position is fine for 6 foot plus folks. The problem isn't really the seat - it's the mirror - fixed in Mk2.
Fixed in the Mk1 with a mirror riser that took me a few mins to install. Well I took delivery of the GR just over 2 years ago and have just paid off the balloon payment on the 0% deal so she's all mine now
Although I told myself I would leave it standard I just couldn't help myself and have undertaken a few 'enhancements' over recent weeks, namely exhaust, intake and some lowering springs. Love it even more now..!!

I'm 6ft3, but unlike some other replies, the seat was dreadful! I had to bend my neck to be able to see out of the windows which was putting my back out....! I ended up buying one of the SWM seat mounting kits and bolted the thing direct to the floor on a fixed mount. That allowed me to lower the rear of the seat base significantly, putting more angle in and giving a modicum of lumbar support now, which was lacking totally before. The headrest on the drivers seat sits 6cm lower than the passenger one now.I’m 6ft2… fairly skinny…. I find a lot of car seats are designed for short people hence are incredibly uncomfortable . You'll just have to try it, but there are fixes available if its rubbish.
I`ve driven my 2022 GRY now for 35k km
The dealer told me that my brake discs are end of life within 5k km, so by 40 k km I should replace them.
Isn`t that a fairly short lifetime for brake discs?
Anyone to comment on this?
I`ve never driven the ar on a circuit, my driving style isn`t that hard on the brakes aswel.
I also never had any car ( BMW M and Porsches) where I had to replace the discs that early.
Thanks for advice and reply

My Mercedes dealer has been telling me for last two years that my brake discs are near end of life, doesn’t mean they actually are.The dealer told me that my brake discs are end of life within 5k km, so by 40 k km I should replace them.

I changed mine at about 32k km. The original pads were shot but the garage advised that the discs wouldn’t be far behind. The dealer told me that my brake discs are end of life within 5k km, so by 40 k km I should replace them.

When I got them off it turns out they were about 26mm so nearly done but not really on their last legs. Thanks, Toyota!
Could probably have driven another 5-6k but I swapped ‘em anyway. I have a few trips and Nürburgring visits planned in the spring/early summer and don’t want to be tooling about on end-of-life rotors at that point.
I do drive like a tit though and they’d managed the Alps, track days etc. so I don’t think it’s too bad.

Seat comfort and fit is personal and it doesn't matter what anyone else says. Just try the car for yourself.
By most standards the car is noisy.
