Alpine A110 owners
Discussion
Interesting all the comment on PPF etc. I've never considered it for any of my cars, they get used, get stone chips and dirty.
I can understand on something really expensive or exotic but as lovely as an A110 is, its neither that expensive (a frocked up Audi A5 will easily cost you more), nor limited as far as I know, or 'exotic' in the Ferrari sense, or even a 911. It's everyday Cayman money.
Fair play to anyone investing the money to keep theirs looking nice, just a curious observation that maybe speaks to the ownership profile who tend to look after things better for their specialness?

I suppose it depends on your perspective if you have bought it use it as a daily and then move it on I would not bother.I can understand on something really expensive or exotic but as lovely as an A110 is, its neither that expensive (a frocked up Audi A5 will easily cost you more), nor limited as far as I know, or 'exotic' in the Ferrari sense, or even a 911. Mine was bought to keep as a second car, cars like these will be gone forever soon so bagging one now and looking after is my plan.
I don't car if it's only an Alpine, it just happens to be exactly what I was wanting and in a couple of years they will stop making them and no one is going to invest in making similar cars going forward.

This was my view as well- I tend to keep my cars for a long time and this was bought as possibly my last new petrol vehicle.Mine was bought to keep as a second car, cars like these will be gone forever soon so bagging one now and looking after is my plan.

One reason I've gone for it is because my A110 will be silver and I know from experience that silver is one of the hardest colours to match if it needs touching up. I've had PPF before and it did save the paint work several times. I plan to keep this car a long time so if I have to replace the PPF every 7/8 years, I figure it will be no more/less than a front end respray.

Me too. I’m looking forward to keeping the A110 *forever* (although that’s what I said about the Jag XK Convertible) and quite likely it will be my last petrol car...Annoyingly, I collected a stone chip within minutes of picking up the Alpine - also my first ever brand new car. An A6 Avant went past me on a dual carriageway in Basingstoke and pinged a stone into the driver’s door, bang in the middle. It made an absolute racket!
I looked into PPF and discussed it with a mate who used to detail cars: his feeling was that the money was better spent on paint correction / touch up and polish every few years so I’ll probably do that. Though I totally get why someone would want to keep the gorgeous little thing absolutely pristine.
I absolutely love the look of the Alpine and barely a week goes by without somebody stopping to comment on it or ask how it drives... it certainly turns heads!

It's a valid point - perhaps the price point of the A110 does put it in an odd position for extravagances like this - for a number of Porsches (and upwards) it's presumably a no brainer. Like a few of us I plan and hope to put as many miles as possible on mine, and historically it's always the bumper and wing mirrors that betray my high milers...I can understand on something really expensive or exotic but as lovely as an A110 is, its neither that expensive (a frocked up Audi A5 will easily cost you more), nor limited as far as I know, or 'exotic' in the Ferrari sense, or even a 911. Should get mine back today; Martins are replacing the battery under warranty. Then I can work on running it in and putting some decent miles into it.
On the upside, having it away from the house meant I could organise the garage. It's got twice as much stuff in, but there's more space left for the car. Racking is amazing stuff.

my hunt for wipers continues (latest updates in the Home Mechanics section) but as a result of Google-Fu and pictures of cats etc. I found myself at this site:
https://www.evox-performance.com/en/a110-ii/757-ev...
One of the videos (I think 4th from the end) claims a time for the Magny Cours Club circuit at 1'17.72 which is incredible if true.
I note, on the Fastest Laps site, it's not recorded there (there is a slower Alpine laptime) https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/circuit-de-nevers-m...
The standard Alpine is not sold as a track toy but it should be a great platform for creating one as it comes with lightness built in.
