Alpine A110 to be axed?

Van? Looks like a van. Has a van engine. Van tyres. Van price tag. Van level of luxury. Has more windows.

They are vans knockoffs just not as useful as vans.
However, they are ideal for benefit breeders and folk in wheelchairs. As well as itinerant Bulgarian field hands. All people who clearly prioritise superior handling.
Ian Bone has an MPV.

I thought I was reading a thread about the Alpine A110...
Nope. It’s a thread about why everyone is wrong and should drive a Seat Alhambra. And that you can’t be a car enthusiast if you drive an SUV. Oh, and some very weird chap who is immeasurably threatened by the Alpine but I think would make sweet love to it all night every night if you stuck a Porsche badge on it.
The Alpine is just a cracking car with some Gallic charm and as everyone agrees it doesn’t really need discussing.

If you missed it (and I'm not surprised) how this all started is what do Alpine do next, given that the brand now seems to be secure in the mid term. An SUV is the option route. So it's all really about the Alpnie brand ....bcr5784 said:
Some of us would like Alpine to produce such a vehicle - but I don't think I would be brave enough to sanction such a development if I were allocating the development spend.
Renault is not in the best position financially, and it would be a gamble. But sometimes that pays off nicely. Old story but the "Sportgolf" was deemed way too expensive to sell (not *that* far away of a base W123), management took a bit of convincing to sign off production of 5000 cars. First year, it (mk1 GTI) sold 10 times that...And is there really that big of a difference between an SQ or Macan and a fast MPV that just happens to have very large wheels? Really all down to marketing. Just take an Espace
fettle that a bit and call it SMV (sports car max versatility or https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SM...) Any other TLA that is not "SUV" and it's at least going to get a bit more press for Alpine.

But ...
Or
Yes you can find non-descript of van-like MPVs..
But get a bit of balance - are either of these two stylish?
The 4x4 clearly is. It has an iconic boxy shape that has been executed well. Or

The Nissan is clearly considered stylish. It seems very popular. A perfect fit for a typical family by the looks of things. Like the GWagon it also isn’t an SUV though. It has less than 20cm ground clearance so is just a car.

Well I think they should build buses and trucks. That's where the money is..
Electric vans is the big boner at the moment. I don’t think Alpine will have the means to invest hundreds of millions on an all new model. I do suspect they will create a performance pack for existing Renault products, even if that treads on the toes of RenaultSport.
Alpine Kodga, anyone?

The rumour floating round was that they were going to do an SUV based on a Mercedes platform. How much credence you can give that I have no idea.bcr5784 said:
