What did you think of David's car? Was it the first time you'd driven it?
I sadly can’t drive other cars due to needing hand controls, but he did take me out for a spin…It’s exceptional.
The looks are immense, it’s so much more purposeful and aggressive with the stance and the aero kit on it. Yeah, it’s a fair chunk lower and I imagine I’ll scrape the splitter on sleeping policemen that it didn’t previously scrape on, but it’s worth it I think. Obviously, as with all Life110 bits, David reckons it adds better high speed stability too, although this was something that was hard to tell from the passenger seat. I’ll revisit this when I have my own kit fitted.
It’s fast! The map is probably the best value mod that David does (other than the geo settings which are free!), it still feels very A110, still feels like it’s worth chasing the redline, but it’s a properly fast little car now. The nice short gearing still means you can enjoy it at pretty legal (ish) speed, but within that it’s definitely more urgent and thrilling. A no brainer.
Suspension and geo is where David’s car differed from the spec I’d go for, and I think I’d want to be an S owner to give a better verdict, it was in full track setup with much stiffer springs and S anti roll bars. Below 40 it was a little much for me, as I like a softer car but… the damping quality, my god. Above 40 it was ironing out the imperfections in the road that a standard car just couldn’t hope to do as well, and yet rather than insulating you from the experience (which was a worry of mine from the Evora), it just made the whole thing even better.
The suspension kit is still in development but it’s a certainty I’ll get it. Obviously, by getting the basics right, Alpine have done an amazing job, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement especially for the secondary ride, where David’s kit really shone.
If anyone’s debating getting any Life110 kit, stop thinking about it and just do it. Everything is very ‘A110’, but better.
I’m getting the map, the springs, wheels, geometry and maybe braided lines done early Feb, so I’ll no doubt be singing the praises even more then!
David has confirmed he’s doing a road specific spring & damper set up so hopefully we will be able to appreciate the damping quality you describe in a set up 100% suitable for UK B roads.
For the road set up (without carbon splitter) I’m hoping ride height can be set at a level that the car can be driven in a spirited way without worrying about clearance issues. I often drive in convoy with more extreme cars that spend the day stressing about scraping bits, the joy of the A110 is you can virtually ignore this worry and just crack on with the driving.
We’re fortunate aren’t we that Alpine gave us much clearance in the first place so it appears to me that would be achievable without issue ?

That looks fantastic BigFiat!
I really strongly considered the Tulip car that Winchester had alongside my emerald one, but the ex-demo discount for my car was too much to resist.
Get some Life110 goodies on it!
Any chance you’ve done the mods…as a lurker for an embarrassing long period, I noted your life 110 ambition, and whilst I don’t think tulips noir could pull off the gold wheels for me …..I’m awaiting glorious pictures to prove me wrong …I really strongly considered the Tulip car that Winchester had alongside my emerald one, but the ex-demo discount for my car was too much to resist.
