I now have Finnish license plates for my A110 but the rear plate is too tall for the Belgian plate holder/frame which is on the car. I'm considering removing the plate holder and just screwing the plates directly to the car. Has anybody else done this? Any tips/advice?

I haven’t but on previous cars I have used heavy duty sticky back Velcro which does the job perfectly without any unsightly holes.

My original rear plate was riveted to the car - thanks Alpine dealer…
I removed it and stuck the replacement on with numberplate tape and it’s been on for nearly 4 years with no issues.

I’d get that thing off the car straight away, if it was mine. It will have been fitted by the dealer, of course, rather than Alpine. I don’t like the way car dealers assume they can use their customers’ cars as free advertising hoardings. Some, even put their advert on your number plate (not just on a number plate holder like this, which can easily be removed) which means you have to get new number plates made up if you don’t want your car to be an advert. I asked for there to be nothing other than the reg. & number plate maker’s code (required by law) on my plates.

I don't like the look of plastic screw head covers protruding from number plates. I have often used the double sided foam number plate strips to affix my plates, but I think using silicone sealant is a better solution. The sticky strips can encourage number plate delamination after many years. If I use the rectangular double sided strips I cut them so there isn’t a flat edge at the top, for water to collect. When I use silicone, I make sure water can run off it, rather than collect behind the number plate.

& as if there aren’t enough Alpine logos on the car already. I know I’m in a minority here, because other people, seemingly, want as may logos as possible on their cars, but I find this gratuitous logoing annoying; one on the outside & one in the interior would be enough for me – I don’t even like the idea of one in every wheel centre, but I guess I’ll just put up with those. I’m buying aftermarket floor mats, mainly so I can enjoy two fewer logos inside my car, although there's a saving here too, & I can have them made a little bigger than the OE mats.

I checked this on my non-UK car today and I don't have units on the settings menu either. Last item in there was language.

My car is 2022 A110 sourced from Belgium. It looks like this might be an UK thing.
Thank you for checking - I will have to stick to my paper speed conversions (and laminate it for long term visits to the UK)

In France they have to be riveted but my UK Volvo with French registration sailed through its CT (MOT equivalent) with the above mentioned screws and screw head covers ... laugh

Thanks for the replys to my license plate question s111pdc, Miserablegit, tony993 and 355ferrarif1.

I hadn't thought of using tape to fix the plate. That is a good tip. Does anybody have more specific recommendations on which tape would be good?

Something like this 3M Dual Lock?

No, that looks like Velcro. I'd say this kind of thing would be better, if you want to use tape.

Hi

I've just taken delivery of 22MY A110 and wanted to see if anyone else has same issue. When the stop start kicks in, the radio and screen power down and then reboot up. Asked the dealer but they've never heard of this problem. Anyone else had this issue? Other than this, it's living up to expectations!

Might need a software update - some of the PE had stop start issues but that was years ago and should be fixed by now.
If you drive in sport mode it disables stop start so problem is avoided.

Thank you - I had avoided Sport mode as running it in but getting on with the miles!

Some of us view sport mode as better for running in as it changes gear more often and so allows the engine to run at a variety of revs more often. I took it easy but as my Italian Italian-engine builder acquaintance says “an engine run in slowly is a slow engine”. He might not be best placed to give that advice however!

It shouldn’t do that. Dealer job I’m afraid - but don’t let this early issue put you off. You can turn the stop start off in the interim.

I was lucky enough to pick my 22MY up yesterday and have so far put about 50 miles on it and I'm pretty sure mine doesnt do that?

Thank you for checking. I’ll see what dealer says. It does keep asking if I want UK map updates but apparently that is known issue - does yours do that?

There is someone on the Alpine 2017 on tips and tricks Facebook group has what sounds like a similar problem. I don't,

Howeve the odd thing I have noticed is that the piano key button to turn ESC off doesn't seem to work. In other words you can't turn off ESC even in track mode. I wonder if others have the same thing?

You need to be in track mode and hold it down. Have you tried this?
