I had a demo in one today, my word

What spec did you have a go in?TX.
I turned up at Winchester pretty much on a whim, I barely knew anything about the cars I just wanted to have a look at them. They ended up handing me the keys to a GT demo car and I had a blast. I was a touch nervous as it was a wet day, but Instead of the car scaring me in any way it just put a big grin on my face. The wet weather traction was a big surprise!

S demo at Winchester. Not long arrived there, about 500 miles on the clock. Didn't even really open it up but you can tell within 100 metres that it just works.

I could also tell within 100 metres. I hit the first mini roundabout and grinned.TX.
Buy a used Pure edition from 2020 or 2021. That's the sweet spot in my opinion.

In other news, am on a Euro road trip and the car died on a mountain road yesterday (1st day!). “Engine Failure Hazard” and would turn over but not start up. Frustrating as I’ve been looking forward to this trip for ages.
It’s a 2022 car, so I suspect may be the fuel pump issue. Ambient temp was around 27° celcius, so not hugely hot. I don’t drive too aggressively, and don’t remember being above 4k rpm. Did notice the engine area seemed quite hot when it stopped, but guess that is to be expected.
The car was recovered last night to the nearest Alpine centre and I’m praying they can fix it, else I’m flying back to the UK.
Hit this literally today on mine. 2019 car on 30k and had a fuel pump replacement under recall a while back. About 1/4 tank in it, had been driving an hour. Lost power, then when I stopped wouldn't restart. AA fault code reader would only do generic codes, apparently nothing specific (but there were some codes such as misfire, fuelling. I can't remember all the ones mentioned). It’s a 2022 car, so I suspect may be the fuel pump issue. Ambient temp was around 27° celcius, so not hugely hot. After it had been sat for an hour (waiting for them) it tried to start very reluctantly, but once going seemed ok and drove home another 50 miles like nothing had happened.

Exact same happened to me down to the fault codes, time driving, and working after a bit. It'll break again and you'll be completely out of luck next time. Get it to a dealer ASAP.After it had been sat for an hour (waiting for them) it tried to start very reluctantly, but once going seemed ok and drove home another 50 miles like nothing had happened.
When was the fuel pump replacement done?

At the Nov 2021 service, so it's ~18 months old and about 10k miles ago. Already booked in with Winchester but not for a couple of weeks. Fortunately it's not my only car. When was the fuel pump replacement done?

The default-to-radio-with-last-used-volume-setting however, is MADDENING.
Probably the only thing that still legitimately pisses me off about the car. All is forgiven though once it’s on the move…
Thanks guys, I tested one today 2021 I think it was and it also works. The Aux was buzzing quite loudly though with nothing plugged in.
I also couldn't connect my android phone via USB to play music, trying USB 1, 2 and iPod options. When unplugging it said no longer connected to the phone, so must have recognised it, just nothing via the media screen. The phone USB settings were also enabled for file transfer.
Had a quick go with the new 2023 infotainment and it's a lot better by passing the native system with Android Auto.

It's summer and the Alpines are back out. As some may already know I have access to both a Pure and a Legende GT and I couldn't figure out why I enjoy driving the Pure so much more.
One thing that hit me is that I have 300bhp and the Pure has 250bhp, I'm wondering if the extra power just isn't right for the softer setup of the GT. Those who have the 2022+ GT will also have a similar experience.
I'm now starting to think about getting the Life110 springs etc fitted as I think the softer suspension means the car isn't as stable when you're hooning it around. Of course I could just accelerate less hard but it feels like there is more lower down torque which makes it a little more difficult to modulate.

From my limited time test driving a few different cars I might be able to help. On a smooth road I agree, the firmer suspension of the S does give a lot of confidence and the S is great fun. But on a typical British road? I've driven the GT and S back to back and the S felt quite uneasy at speed on a bumpy road, quite jittery and almost stressful to drive fast like it wasn't holding onto the road as well. By comparison the GT just flowed over everything quite effortlessly and I think I was carrying higher speeds as well. So in that sense the softer suspension felt more stable. The difference with the GT is that it didn't lose much if any fun on smoother sections so for me it was the best of both worlds and the one I ended up ordering. One thing that hit me is that I have 300bhp and the Pure has 250bhp, I'm wondering if the extra power just isn't right for the softer setup of the GT. Btw, for what it's worth I found the GT more fun than the pure. Nothing wrong with the pure, it just lacked the same wow factor that the 300 PS engine + extra torque gives. The older S I drove with the 292 PS engine also lacked some shove, there's a noticeable difference there too.
I've always been curious how you've said your Legende GT wasn't as fun as the pure though, so I hope you find out the difference whatever it is. I have some doubt that more power = less fun as for me it has been the exact opposite.

That's useful and a very good point. I do love finding a good A-road and being able to drive it so much faster than any other car with confidence.Btw, for what it's worth I found the GT more fun than the pure. I wonder what geos they had. I found setting up my Pure properly (life110 fast road) transformed the level of confidence I had in it.Gassing Station | Alpine | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
