Not convinced that is the root cause. The Wells Vertige has no power steering, is a similar weight to the Alfa and on the evidence of a drive (albeit a fairly short one) doesn't seem at all flighty. The steering is light - and certainly doesn't need power assistance - so I would assume that they have used little caster too.

The Elise gets away without power steering - and, although it is heavy at parking speeds, I wouldn't regard it as unduly flighty.

It would be interesting to know what the Alfaworks mods to the 4C actually are. More caster (if it is adjustable) would make the steering even heavier.

Just checked and Alfaworks use spacers to alter both camber and caster - and have revised toe settings. Looking at the size of spacers they use and how they are fitted it looks like they REDUCE caster . Given that they also move steering arm relative to the rack this will affect bump steer - which is one of things that afflicts the 4C.

I'm wondering if any of you notice a ticking noise on light throttle from the O/S/R when you have the window open?

It's not a really concerning noise, just a light ticking noise that disappears when off throttle and wondering if it's normal. The driving mode makes no difference and it's similar to a stone in the tyre but quieter.

Apologies if a stupid question… but you’ve checked the tyre for any small stones etc.? Could just be something that’s always there, but drowned out by engine noise on anything more than a light throttle?

Otherwise, what’s your mileage? High enough for a worn component?

The mileage is just over 100. The sound is also there when pressing on (as much as you can during running in) but most noticeably instantly disappears/reappears off/on light throttle, the speed of the ticks don't change with road speed so don't think it could be a stone. Just a light consistent tick tick tick, similar to the old F4R engine injection noise but more external as only with the window open. I feel like it could just be normal but worth checking.

I will check for a tyre stone this morning and also whether if it does it while stationery, if not it does point to something like tyre/wheel/brakes. It's not that concerning to be honest, just wanted to check if it's normal.

Unfortunately that's not the only noise the car is making - both door cards in various places, passenger seat belt, dash area and possibly something in the engine bay all rattle at times. It's the best car I've ever driven and already love it to bits, but would be lying if I said chasing significant rattles doesn’t put a slight dampener on first impressions. I'm aware of many of the fixes and an ex-mechanic so will sort it myself and enjoy doing so. It's just a shame they weren't taken care of on factory build, as having known issues which have known fixes addressed is part of the appeal of a new build. I knew this was coming, just not on day 1!

Moan over, overall it's brilliant. I can tell the driving experience will keep surpassing my expectations. You're at the centre of the experience in every way. The ride is great for a sports car, no wincing when you can't dodge that pothole as it just skips over. Rattles aside, the rest of the interior is great - lovely sound system with the Focal signature I know well. The new infotainment is really good, very responsive with wireless Android Auto, voice control and all the bells and whistles... although I am coming from a 15 year old Clio! The A110 is absolutely beautiful on the road or driveway, even moreso than showroom shine, it's cute yet stunning and looks like a mini supercar. If I'm honest it gets more attention than I prefer as I'm not a poser, but do like the attention from petrol heads, when RS3s and F-Types slow down to have a gander. I'm looking forward to many years of driving!

The door cards is a common one, supposedly it's because there is no padding behind them and it's just the handle and the long bar going to the door catch. I've had mine in to the dealer several times and they haven't been able to replicate it.

The storage thing rattles next to my left ear.

My gear selectors rattle, that's a new one.

Without making excuses for it, I think most of it is down to the lightweight nature of the car which means less padding and sound deadening.

It is dependent on road surface, although it often happens on roads which are barely rough surfaces and just hit the right frequency of vibration, other times it can be on a terribly bumpy road and silent. I somewhat agree with the lightweight nature of the car making ceratin compromises necessary, however fixes for rattles will likely be strips of felt tape, rubber grommets etc to compensate for clearances on contact surfaces.

I genuinely love Alpine. I'm half French, have driven Renaults for 20 years and proudly work for the brand... if anything I'm biased towards praise, but constructive criticism can always help development.

Thanks for the tip, I'll update once fixed. wink

Is this correct that your A110 has wireless Android Auto? If I remember correctly when 2022 models with Android Auto were released Alpine said in some communication that wireless Android Auto would be coming later via software update (although I can't find source for this info anymore) but haven't heard anything about that since then. I don't have wireless Android Auto on my 2022 A110 and I haven't heard anybody mentioning having wireless Android Auto on their A110 either. Therefore it would be interesting if wireless would actually be available.

Mine has a little ticking noise over my right hand shoulder when it's cold, but that disappears as the car warms up.

My door card has a little bit of a buzz that is solvable with a squirt of dry lube spray around the door handle bit.

Other than that it only makes the noises it should.

Mine was also an April build date and connects to AA and starts playing music as soon as I start the engine but not before.

You can use aftermarket adapters to make it wireless so it's easily solved if it's not live on your car, hopefully there will be an update which makes it possible for earlier cars though.

Both my door cards rattle a lot on rough roads but the car generally feels solid otherwise. I think it's where the body coloured panel meets the lower panel as applying pressure stops the noise, then I can hear another slight rattle from the centre console which did made me laugh.

I'm really enjoying the car, I can't wait for a weekend away in Wales. smile

Here is a picture of a door card from ebay, you can see where felt tape has been installed (top left of picture) to prevent a known issue where the door card rattles on contact with the window mechanism screw. I hope when I strip my door cards it is simply a matter of this felt being missing.

Could we continue wireless Android Auto discussion on the dedicated infotainment thread here:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

That way this discussion doesn't get buried on this huge mega-thread where nobody can find it later.

I recently downloaded and synced my car to the My Alpine app, shortly after this notification appeared... something in the works perhaps?

Hi there,

Been lurking for the past couple of months since I first test drove an A110 and am close to pulling the trigger on a nearly new model, but not settled on which yet.

Question for all of you who own one already, what would you do differently if you were buying today? What options are essential, would you pick the base model or GT? Is post-facelift model worth the extra? Would you still buy now? What are the faults you’re experiencing and can you live with it?

That’s a lot of questions, but any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I'd still go for heated seats and the smallest wheels if they'd let me have that combination. I don't need any more power. I wouldn't bother with the upgraded stereo or spirits exhaust because I use neither.

But I'd definitely still buy one.

I'm very happy with my 2022 Legende. I consider the rear camera and sensors to be well worth having, and like the adjustable seats, but know that others are equally enthusiastic about the standard buckets. The car was dealer-specced and has Seracs, but I'd have preferred the Legende wheels, I think. Folding mirrors would be nice perhaps, but not essential. I haven't experienced the post-facelift infotainment but imagine it is an improvement on the earlier version.

If you connect your phone to your car for music and satnav, get a 2022 onwards model so you have CarPlay and Android Auto.

If you listen to music, get the upgraded Focal speakers.

I love the standard bucket seats, but I appreciate some need/prefer the adjustability of the GT seat. My test drive was in a car with adjustable seats and it didn't give me the connection I feel I get with the bucket seat.

The sports exhaust option is worth having to add a little extra drama, but there are owners on this forum who find it a bit much.

If you intend to track the car you probably will benefit from the uprated brakes. For me, my small wheels (17") and standard brakes are exactly what I wanted.

I have the telemetrics option, but I have literally never opened the app.

There aren't many options and you cannot really go too wrong with any.

I'd 100% still buy one.

Post-facelift isn't worth the extra.

If I had my time again I'd go for the base model with the sound system, reverse camera and bucket seats.

I'd then get the milltek exhaust and all the Life110 upgrades.

If I was feeling flush I may have gone for Sierra Blue, if not I'd have gone for black as not many seem to have ordered black.

I ended up going for a Legende GT which I love, but it has the extra power and came with the comfort seats. I've driven the 292bhp and the 250bhp back to back and the 250 is actually a better drive imo. I wasn't a fan of the comfort seats, I felt the material used was too firm and it hurt my bum, the alcantara is much nicer.

I agree with the other posters, reverse camera is helpful considering rear visibility is somewhat compromised.

I'd go along with that. I'd add that if you intend to track the car then the big brakes and telemetrics (only way to get oil temperature) are worth having. I'd definitely go with a reversing camera (I do a lot of parking!).

As Philip says the sports exhaust isn't everyone's cup of tea - so I'd try with and without. You can get rid of the flatulence in sport with a £200 remap from Life110.

I'd forgotten the reversing camera, and agree that it's well worth having.
