With ref to the map have you noticed / is there any noticeable increase in temps when ‘pressing on’ for extended periods ? I quite fancy trying it and I know David tracks his car seemingly without issues but wanted to understand if there are any downsides to the extra grunt ? It sounds like additional clutch slip (if there ever was any ?) has been ironed out via torque management low down in the rev range.

Cheers.
My usage is road-only and there’s nowhere around my way (West Herts/Bucks) that you *can* press on for more than a few minutes at a time - just too much traffic and junctions. So I’ve not noticed any issues but I’m not sure that proves anything much!

Ditto road here too and I agree in the UK, it was a Spain trip this year that made me think a bit. We did a pretty full on 45mins… alpine pass following a GT4, 675LT & Gt3RS. I was at the back in the A110 and trying quite hard, temps were creeping up at the end and I was glad to give the car a rest as we cruised into the village BUT to be fair the car never missed a beat, I was in awe at its ability & friendliness hairpin after hairpin !! It was the only time I got the brake judder issue too, but the style of road meant we were repeatedly stoping hard for each hairpin so pretty tough on the car for road driving.

Have you tried track mode yet?

It's unreal, the shifts actually give you a kick in the back and the car just comes alive. Most of my spirited driving is done in track mode now.
I haven’t…! That may well turn out be the the best Christmas present I’ve had this year… biggrin
Is that just TC off?

No it’s a track ESC. Allows a bit of slip angle but not a huge amount to get in trouble with.

I noticed this too, it's fun. And if you upshift at just the right time, just before the limiter, you get an even harder kick.

I was driving around in the wet in Track mode yesterday. Not sure about traction control, but stability control is definitely still on so if the car starts to slip sideways, even a little bit, it quickly corrects. You get different sounds out the exhaust too - less bangs, more crackles.

To switch ESC fully off, go to Track mode then press and hold the ESC button until the dash displays ESC Off

Hi there,

Been lurking for the past couple of months since I first test drove an A110 and am close to pulling the trigger on a nearly new model, but not settled on which yet.

Question for all of you who own one already, what would you do differently if you were buying today? What options are essential, would you pick the base model or GT? Is post-facelift model worth the extra? Would you still buy now? What are the faults you’re experiencing and can you live with it?

That’s a lot of questions, but any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Hello and welcome! I'm a fairly recent owner so I should be able to answer some of your questions.

I would still buy the GT. In fact I'm generally very happy with my spec and there's not much I would change, albeit I did have several trips to different dealerships to drive various cars and I did spend many hours in the configurator and reading up about the options on these forums.

The GT is the one that best blends performance and daily drivability, at least as far as I'm concerned. One thing I might have done differently is picked a different colour, I have Alpine Blue and it's great, but I do kinda wish I'd gone for one of the atelier colours like Alpine Blue Steel. Hard to find pictures of, but It's similar to Alpine Blue with more metallic flake and almost a two-tone effect giving it more contrast and pop. But I'm actually really happy I went a colour at all, my previous cars have all been monochrome.

Alpine Telemetrics was an option I did regret getting for a while, just because of how frustrating it is to start up and use and the fact that most of what it shows is in the dash display anyway. It felt more like a gimmick than a useful feature you'd be happy to pay for. Now that I've found oil temp and used it to time a few 0-62mph runs, my feelings are slightly less negative towards it, but I still don't think it's worth the money.

Post facelift gets you the updated engines in the GT and S with increased torque and power (would recommend if you want a bit of extra shove). You also get the new infotainment with android auto and apple carplay, which I'm pleasantly surprised by. Android auto is really good, if you like google maps and listening to music on your phone you'll really value it. You can tell by looking at the back of the car, if the model is indicated it's a facelift car, if it just says ALPINE with no model underneath it's pre-facelift.

Faults - expect some niggles, mostly minor stuff where you can tell they haven't spent quite as much time testing and polishing features compared to the more established brands. The keyless entry can be a bit quirky and takes a bit of time to get used to, the rear facing camera sometimes takes a couple of "goes" to turn on when you go into reverse, there may be some rattles or not quite perfect panel fitment from new, stuff like that. The only issue I've had that has made me worry is the engine occasionally cutting power under hard acceleration. But I'm not sure it's even a fault, I might have just experienced the traction control kicking in.

You know you can hold down the mode button on the audio control stalk for 2 seconds and it opens telematics. And then can be used to scroll through.

Is that on the newer cars that have a telemetrics app or just the older cars?

Telemetric was an option when I bought mine; ordered December 2018 I think.

What! No I had no idea. Is that in the manual or is it a "hidden" feature? If it works even from Android Auto, it will be convenient indeed.

Maybe we need a separate thread with a list of these kind of short cuts. There's some stuff I still don't know and can't find in the manual, like putting the wipers into the service position.

hi there, after 2 lotus, 2 morgan and several porsche i bought a grey gt as a christmas present, wirh 20% discount. dealer will be sold and wanted to reduce stock before takeover. i was happy to help. sold my gt3 touring after 5 years and 20k km for the former purchase price and also sold a 992 cabriolet. incoming on november was a new 992 gts convertible and the remaining cash was more than enough to get the gt. being honest, the discount was the trigger and i was looking for a small light car for mountain roads.
picked the alpine up before christmas and drove 250 km so far. i enjoy the lightness but have to get used to the softer set up. the combination with the 992 gts appears to be a perfect fit and i like the non aggressive design.
in mai the alpine will be challenged in austria and slovenia. will be interested to see the performance with the other cars joining (m2, boxster gts, jag ftype). will post driving experience…..thx to this active forum and all the best for 2024 …
.as a new member i could not insert pictures ??

IIRC with igntion off, flick the wiper stalk to the "fast" position. Pretty sure it was in my manual as I wouldn't have figured it out otherwise!

I really need to read the manual as most of this stuff is unknown to me rofl

TX.

Edit - I have now found track mode (wish I had known before I went on track!) but how is it different to sports mode? Just loosens TC a bit?

I still don't know how to take the engine cover off. My window between the cabin and the engine is filthy.

In Track mode the ESC is 'Track'. If you press and hold the ESC button it will go to ESC Off
