Each to his own - but I've never understood the desire to lower (for aesthetic reasons) or get fixated with wheelarch clearance' let alone big wheels with ultra low profile tyres. My all-time favourite looking car is the 246 Dino

The front on that is pretty damn low really...

Meonstoke would like this, methinks:

(Sorry for the teasing Meonstoke, I'll stop now biggrin)

((Also to be fair I'd like that too, looks cool as hell))
I'll say it every time - I would 100% have bought that.

While I'm a-ok with standard (I'll call it 'touring') spec, there has been one road which I've bailed on (the lane down to Talisker Bay, if you're interested) - although it was less about ground clearance than genuine fear of punctures/rim damage on a surface which was more pothole than tarmac. I harboured fond ideas of barrelling down it in the Sports X. cloud9

Does anyone know the ET front & rear of the 17" wheels?

https://www.wheel-size.com/size/alpine/a110/2018/ says front are et30 and rear are et40. I've just looked at my spare set in the garage and they're stamped:
7J17CH5-30 and 8J17CH5-40 which seems to match.

Being a sad git, I also weighed them when they were new - F are 8.1kg rim only, R are 9.3kg. With new PS4s they're 16.9 and 18.9kg respectively. So I think that makes them (even including tyres) lighter than the "lightweight" fuchs 18s.

Thanks, I thought I saw it somewhere as have used that site before.

I ask as planning on using 17" wheels on a big brake car, for the ride and lightness. Dave @ Life110 says the 17" fit over the big brakes and I'm sure he knows, I just want to be 110% sure as otherwise would go for a Pure/small brake car.

The fuchs/PE wheels the calipers already sit pretty close but enough room for 1.5mm movement when using an ET calculator, as long as the 17" spokes still clear the brakes.

I had a look yesterday when washing the car and I can get a flat wheel brush in between the calipers and the rim (18inch SERACs), so a 1/2 inch reduction in radius should clear. It'll be close though.

That said, marginal clearance is obviously acceptable as my wifes JCW is so close that unless the tyre fitters put the wheel weights in the channel provided for them they get ripped off by the caliper when you drive off...... ask me how I know banghead

PS, I wish that whoever designed wheels were made to wash a few of them in the cold. Perhaps they'd think about how to clean the buggers. The SERACs are not the worst I've had, but they are approaching it. Takes longer to wash each wheel than it does to wash the rest of the car.

I know you're probably exaggerating, but they can't be that bad? My Lexus has 20 spoke 19" wheels and It takes me about 10-15 mins per wheel if I'm doing them quite thoroughly and closer to 5 mins if I'm doing a quick wash. Describe your process and I might be able to help. Do you have a detailing brush at least?

Not exaggerating. May not look like it, but there are loads of small holes and a groove around the whole wheel just behind the spokes. Yes I have things to get into the holes but I don't like using wheel cleaners as they tend to be quite harsh and strip any protection applied on the wheels.

That said a well waxed (and little) car only takes 10 minutes to wash, so indeed less than each of your wheels.

I'm struggling to decide on aftermarket wheels.

What width are on the front and back?

From what I've researched its 7 but the lowest a lot of 18" wheels go to is 8 it seems.

What is it you want ideally?

Legende and Serac wheels:
Front - 18" x 7J, ET29
Rear - 18" x 8J, ET40

Fuchs and GT Race wheels:
Front - 18" x 7.5J, ET35
Rear - 18" x 8.5J, ET46

If you're wanting to stay with 18x7 and 18x8, Fondmetal 9RR https://teamdynamics.fr/jantes-alpine/

Can the car take 19" wheels?

The Alpine is a unique car in that you can go either direction with the style of wheel.

At the moment I'm considering Vossen HF-3, but smallest size is 19"

I mean, they’re just wheels, you can run whatever size you want. To keep the size in the arch the same and the speedometer accurate, you’d want to go to 35 profile, and then the tyre choice is pretty rubbish.

They’d probably make the brakes look small and rubbish too.

Also, FYI I see that Life110 have just recently introduced some nice looking forged Y-spoke wheels made by 3SDM in 8" and 9" x18"
Details on their website. Not cheap, but IMO, look teriffic!

I saw, and they do look terrific!

They are just so so expensive for me, my budget would max be £2.3k

I'm having some made. Here are CADs for the rears. They should be with me in around eight weeks.

These are 17 x 9 & the fronts are 17 x 8.

£3,250 incl. VAT. Wheelmania/Jordan Lloyd.

3SDM were going to make them for me. They took up plenty of my time & I placed an order then they came back to me to say they couldn't do it after all, because they were too busy.

David Pook was kind enough to advise me on the offsets.
