TX.
I still don't know how to take the engine cover off. My window between the cabin and the engine is filthy.
Open the rear boot, there are three hand wheels up under the front edge of the opening that are under the plastic vent on the end of the glass window. Just take those off and the window opens up. It’s a beautifully simple, honest way to do it rather than a catch mechanism that’ll get used so rarely. Takes 30 seconds.

Perfect, thanks!

You know you can hold down the mode button on the audio control stalk for 2 seconds and it opens telematics. And then can be used to scroll through.
I tried this a few times and couldn't get it to work. Anyone else? For clarity I'm holding the "mode" button on the underside of the infamous volume control stalk.

IIRC with igntion off, flick the wiper stalk to the "fast" position. Pretty sure it was in my manual as I wouldn't have figured it out otherwise!
Thanks! Similar to my previous cars, but different enough that it threw me off. Couldn't find it in the online manual that I use, I need to open the physical ones more.

I wish they had come up with a better way of doing it honestly, the thumb screws are a bit of a pain. I can live with it for the lightweight ethos and accept that most owners seldom open it, but I want to get under there pretty often when washing the car etc.

I can't remember where right at the moment, but I saw something the other day around the screws seizing in the captive nuts which can then break loose. May be worth putting a dab of copper grease on them.

Not a bad shout. Personally don’t think they’re irritating in the least. Good secure solution. One of the companies does sell quick releases for the engine cover and for the glass. Can’t say I see the point in either mind.

I've got the D rings for the cover. The original fittings are (IMO) likely to get scratched once removed a few times, especially if someone uses a metal screwdriver on them. The D rings actually makes it easier to get the fittings aligned and back in as you can grip them and jiggle them about to locate them.

Can't say the 3 screws holding down the glass worries me, all pretty quick and painless.

Fair enough, I’ve found I can undo the engine cover fittings by hand on mine if you hold them in the right way.

This 'shortcut' used to work on my MY19 Legende but no longer works on my MY23 GT. Frustrating, as the telematics are now located deep within numerous menus and agree/confirm macros. Graphics/scope of telematics in newer cars also appears to be a step backwards compared to the older cars.

Yeah this is what I suspected, bit of a pain as it takes at least 6-8 screen presses plus loading time to go from android auto to telemetrics. A shortcut would have been nice.

It is possible to reduce the number of screen presses to get to telemetrics on 2022 and onwards cars with updated infotainment by adding a tile for telemetrics on the front page of the infotainment. If you have Android Auto active you still have to get to the cars infotainment system to activate telemetrics but the tile on the front page removes few clicks/presses from the process.

There are instructions on how to add tiles on the infotainment on the user manual.

Watching a video on the Porsche 911 Dakar, I'm pretty sure if you just put off-road tyres on the Alpine you'd have a Dakar.

Everything they say about the darker is basically just the benefits of the Alpine.

I guess the biggest benefit of the dakar is missing from the A110....... four wheel drive.

I'd be interested to compare the extra weight + 4WD vs Alpine's RWD

Doesnt really matter when you get it off road, good luck in your RWD regardless of how light it is hehe

With a bit more ground clearance I think the Alpine would still do well.

Dakar isn't exactly good in proper off-road conditions:

6-8 screen presses? really? On my 2021 model it couldn't be easier - press the Alpine graphic at the centre of the main screen and it fires up the telementrics, then just scroll left and right through he different screens. To go to 6-8 different presses to do the same seems a real backward step!

Thanks, I will have a look next time I'm in the car, that does sound like an improvement.

Just off the top of my head, but I think it really is: Say I'm in google maps, I have to press the lower right icon (twice?) to get back to the android auto home screen, then press "Alpine" to get back to the main alpine software, then another 1-2 presses to get to "apps", another press to get into telemetrics, then another 1-2 presses to accept terms and conditions and confirm that you want to use it. You can't just do it quickly with muscle memory either, because of the multiple hitches/lag and load-up times. It should really have a dedicated button or shortcut (if anyone knows it please fill me in!).

Android auto itself is great, the main Alpine software isn't that bad either, but the fact that you have to switch between them to use certain features does make it a bit of a pain from a user experience point of view.
