Alpine A110 owners
Discussion
A way to go yet but some signs of progress with the current lock down.
I’m a bit late to the party here but as we’re allowed and it’s safe to do so I’ll be arranging a dawn raid to North Wales or up to Alston, starting south Manchester. Be great to meet some of the local owners in the North West so if anybody fancies joining me drop me a mail.
Picking up a car Dec’20 suffice to say I’m gagging for a good day out
I’ll share some GPX files of the routes .... good to have something to look forward to eh !!!!

Lovely looking car and great pics. That last one looks photoshopped!
Nope...when you put the shutter of your camera low then you can capture the motion of moving object (like spinning rear wheels)...fast shutter then everything freezes in frame. With a smartphone this is of course not possible. Franzino said:

Smartphones (at least android ones) have had variable shutter speeds (and many other adjustments - ISO, white balance, etc) for a long time (mine's had it since Android 6). Not sure how many people use it. The big problem for me with using a phone rather than a "proper" camera has been the wide angle lenses used. Now that is being addressed with (fairly short) telephoto lens on many . Pretty poor still for bird photography (my thing) - but now good enough for me to include the odd phone shot in my shows.bcr5784 said:

Ok; my bad...on the standard picture app on my old iPhone this is not the case. But I ordered a iPhone 12; so maybe it's possible on these phones. Have no experience with Android...biggles330d said:
Does anyone know if the sports exhaust on the configurator actually enhances the power output or performance or if it's just an option to make a nicer noise and add some pops and bangs?
It's the latter, no additional performance just a flap based system that adds more noise.Venisonpie said:
Does it change the induction at all? My car doesn't have a sports exhaust but the demo I had did and it seemed to suck and gurgle away (no laughing at the back) more than mine.
The sports exhaust comes with an induction noise pipe mounted to the bulkhead - which isn't switched, so it's working away no matter what mode you have the exhaust in. I'd quite value the option to have a switched version (Ford have these) which opens and closes with the exhaust valves, because you get that faux 'rorty carb' sound any time you're over about 25% throttle travel (and sometimes you just fancy more 'hushed' progress). In theory I guess you could retrofit the pipe, if you missed the sound?
(FWIW, I know some people get pissy about 'engineered' engine noise, but I am A-OK with anybody bothering to make a modern, emissions compliant engine sound better while doing everything else it has to do.)

Hopefully your cars aren’t delayed. Mine definitely is!
Spoken with Tim at Shirley. Good news. My car is on time and currently in build so should be here for delivery next month as planned.Edited by W111AAM on Friday 5th February 20:40

Has anyone done or been offered factory collection of their new car? Seems a very pleasant way to spend a day across the channel for a nice lunch and initial drive back home??
I wanted to do this but given the current situation figured it was probably impossible. But also my understanding is the car gets delivered to Alpine UK where it has an alarm/immobiliser fitted before delivery to the dealer. Guess this won't help going direct to the factory?Edited by W111AAM on Friday 12th February 12:13

With sports exhaust you also get a "sound pipe" which feeds induction noises into the cabin. Makes gobble gobble noises that sound vaguelly like 40 DCOE carbs of yesteryear. Only intrudes under acceleration and goes quiet at a cruise.Edited by bcr5784 on Friday 12th February 09:49

I think the Sports exhaust and engine modes are very well judged: it does make a good noise in Sport, but not raucously anti-social, and in standard mode the whole thing is remarkably civilised (not much less so than my Jag XK). I’m well impressed...Just ordered a set of Life110 gearchange paddles
