£3,250 incl. VAT. Wheelmania/Jordan Lloyd.

3SDM were going to make them for me. They took up plenty of my time & I placed an order then they came back to me to say they couldn't do it after all, because they were too busy.

David Pook was kind enough to advise me on the offsets.
Did David say anything about the slightly wider wheels?

Which offsets was recommended?

No, because I said I was going for 8s & 9s, which is what he was/is running. I knew what offsets David's wheels were, but I was confused about whether he was also running spacers (which he wasn't).

The idea with the wider rim is, I will run the standard tyre (although I think David runs something slightly different) & this gives more stretch, so the car doesn't move around inside the tyre so much on turn in.

David recommended front ET35, rear ET38. He said I could have them sticking out a few mm more at the back if I wanted, but the front should be ET35 for 8".

Excellent, thanks.

I found a couple that said the ET, this one is 35 46:
https://www.mecaparts.com/product/jeu-de-4-jantes-...

And this one is 35 45:
https://www.mp-rezeau.fr/produit/jantes-forgees-ac...

But I'm going to go with David's advice as I don't want to compromise the wonderful handling of the car.

Does anyone know the paint code for the dark grey used on the Serac wheels? I've scuffed the NSF one (I know, I know, learn to drive, learn to park...) and one repairer suggests stripping the whole wheel, cutting back the abrasion and then refinishing. He thinks the grey is 'anthracite with a bit of something else mixed in'. All of which sounds alarm bells for me: is it possible to match the colour? I could have two wheels done (there is a small, liveable-with scuff on a rear wheel so I could justify it), but would be happier leaving the original finish where possible. If I could find a man-in-a-van refurbisher I'd be happy with a Smart repair...which at least leaves most of the original paint in tact.

A couple of shots of my new wheels. These have been finished with clear coat onto the bare metal. I'll post some pictures of them on the car, eventually.

I’m looking to sort a set of these 17 inch wheels myself - do you have a pic of them on the car please?

My MP-R rims arrived. The color is gold but kind of light silvery gold.
The one pictured is the 18x9 and it weighs 8.35 kg

So a set seems to be a useful circa 8kg less all round than typical.

Comparing with Legende wheels (7J ET29), 8J ET35 is equivalent to running 7mm spacers on the front.

That's not the sort of wide track look I'm interested in (currently running 3mm spacers). Is this strictly necessary for scrub radius (or Ackerman)?

@Liam22 I'm not sure whether you're asking me, but I'm the wrong person to ask. I took advice from David Pook because I don't know much about these kinds of things. I did notice, however, that the spec's on the new Life110 forged wheels are different from my wheels.

@a11au That's a useful weight saving & it's about what I was expecting from my forged wheels. Mine are 17 x 9 (9.5KG) & 17 x 8 (9.7kg - yes, the 8s are heavier than the 9s), which is very disappointing. I asked how much these were going to weigh, & Wheelmania, who organised the manufacture of the wheels for me, said they didn't know. I'm sure they could have got the answer from their CAD software if I'd pushed them, but this whole bespoke wheel process had used up so much of my time before Wheelmania agreed to make the wheels for me that I was not as focussed as I should have been. I wasted a lot of time dealing with two other companies & a little time dealing with another before placing my order with Wheelmania. I think 3SDM, who make the Life110 forged wheels & took my order, based on this design, then told me they were too busy to do the CAD work, would have done a better job.

Just to be clear, Wheelmania were a pleasure to deal with, & I'm happy with the way the wheels look. I don't doubt they're stronger than my OE 17s, but something obviously went wrong at the design stage - I was very clear that I was expecting lightweight wheels & that's not what I've ended up with.

@Julian Thomson No, I don't have a picture of them on the car yet, but I hope to be able to post some pictures next week.

Your MP-R wheels look absolutely awesome in that colour!

When I weighed mine (same wheels but the first batch they produced) interestingly the 18x9s weighed 7kg.
Admittedly weighed on bathroom scales which were probably a bit inaccurate!

I believe the second batch are very slightly different, so maybe were revised, perhaps to be homologated for road use in France? Out of interest, did your receipt/invoice state 'For Track Use Only', which of course only applies to France?

Also, I suggest checking the length of your standard wheel bolts - I felt it was better to use longer ones...

Cheers, Clive.

I will weigh the front one. My scale is to two decimal places. Not sure on the docs will check. I already got longer bolts for spacers I have on now, so we'll see, but it didn't occur to me I may need even longer ones, thanks.

I'm sure your scales are probably a lot more accurate than mine!

FYI I used the Eibach (Life110) 32mm extended bolts which are for use with their spacers and they're perfect, giving about the same amount of thread showing to go into the hub as the standard bolts.
I was told by the tyre/wheel specialists I used for the tyres that as a guide you should have 7 full rotations of the bolts to fit securely.

If you already have spacers, then if your bolts are 32mm or more, then I'm sure they'll be fine!

I'm pleased that your efforts with MP-R were successful (and hopefully not too tedious!), and the end product certainly does look fantastic - I look forward to seeing some photos of them on the car!

Cheers, Clive.

thanks, there were a number of delays with MP-R for the mid 2023 batch of rims (by their own admission), communication had to be in French - I was the one using google translate for each email, not them - but they threw in their A110 paddles for free as an apology so that was nice.

Does anyone know if there is an adapter for the centre cap fitting?

My old ones are too small to go in to my aftermarket wheels.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the paddles - especially with the thought that they are free! It was a nice gesture, certainly.

I see that today MP-R have also introduced two new wheel designs, both of which look good. See their website...

I now have a tyre pressure monitoring system warning after installing aftermarket wheels. Is that something that can be cleared?

Did you use TMPS valves? You can get them from David at Life110. There's a process too for resetting it I think.

I found it quite straightforward with my TPMS valves, although they were pre-programmed (from Life110).
Provided yours are pre-programmed for the Alpine, you just follow the procedure in the handbook and then drive a few miles and it should clear OK.
