I got 11k out of the rear PS4s, 24k out of the front. Switched to PS5s and got 20k out of the first pair of rears. Now running the slightly bigger A110S size PS5s for a bit better pothole protection, will see how they last!
The PS5s are much better in the cold and damp and wear more evenly.

@neil-g8km6 I'd be interested in purchasing said wheels. Are they the PE Fuchs with the black insets?
They certainly are, from my 2018 PE which I purchased in December 2021 with 2800 miles on the clockhttps://flic.kr/p/2pgexoZ

I live in the Midlands.
Have now changed fronts but stayed with the ps4 DT1 tyres.
The extra tread has given a better feel to the front end, particularly in the wet - maybe not so surprising.
Tyre pressures a couple of psi higher than minimum really helps with straight line stability and turn in.
Thanks for the feedback on choosing the correct tyre.

I've just replaced the second rear tyre, having picked up a puncture on our road trip in May; car is just shy of 17000 miles.
Kwik Fit did a 'vehicle health check' and suggest that the fronts (2 years old, fitted in manufacture) are perished; I think the appearance is due to scrubbing, as (a) the rubber does not seem dry, (b) grip is unaffected, and (c) the age of the tyre makes this unlikely. Oh, and (d) only the outside edge of each tyre is affected.
What do you think? All opinions welcome!
Note that what appear to be splits in the surface of the tyre just behind the scuffed area is in fact the tread.

I had a battle with Michelin on my original set of tyres when that appeared albeit they had about 10k on them. They eventually relented and agreed to change the set after a 5 month battle. The problem has not reappeared on my further 2 sets of tyres and so I’d be taking it up with Michelin.Kwik Fit did a 'vehicle health check' and suggest that the fronts (2 years old, fitted in manufacture) are perished; I think the appearance is due to scrubbing, as (a) the rubber does not seem dry, (b) grip is unaffected, and (c) the age of the tyre makes this unlikely. I had this cracking on my PS4s when I bought the car. Again I assume they had been on the car since I bought it. They still had loads of tread left but the steering didn't feel like it should to me.
I reluctantly changed them - hard to throw away tyres that still have loads of tread - but very glad I did because the car feels much better. I have much more confidence in it mainly as it felt quite "floaty". I'm amazed it made that much difference. I have changed from PS4 to PS5 so could be that but always found PS4 to be really good.

Michelin and in particular Pilot Sports seem to have a tendency to get the perished/cracked finish on the surface after about 2 years whether normal or hard use. I've had it on a few sets of PS2 on Clio 172 and 182 and now on PS4 on the PE
Worst thing had been MOT advisories but never issues with tyre performance

I have heard back from Michelin; they have a procedure, which requires me to go to a Michelin dealer, who will assess the tyres and send an online report. However, Michelin say that Kwik-Fit will only do this if I buy tyres from them; whether the new rear tyre counts, I don't know and the person at the local branch didn't know of the process. Kwik-Fit UK aren't taking calls due to the computer outage today, but it appears that they are offering a service that they can't deliver. Why would I replace the tyres I have an issue with if Michelin are going to replace them? Worst thing had been MOT advisories but never issues with tyre performance

I’m having flashbacks….I remember it was an absolute nightmare and involved about 20 emails- and thoroughly st service from the local Michelin dealer. I had to escalate it to a complaint which resulted in Michelin sending 4 new tyres to the Michelin dealer which I collected and had fitted locally as I was damned if I was gong to give the lazy b at the local Michelin delaer any money. I then dropped the old tyres at the Michelin dealer. It had been a farcical situation of the dealer not knowing the procedure, Michelin sending them details of the procedure, dealer still pleading ignorance or saying they were too busy to take a look (even when I’d booked an appointment for them to do just that). This happened about 3 times until even the French thought it had become too much of a farce and gave me new tyres.
I didn’t have to buy new tyres for this to happen.
Send a complaint- it does seem to get them moving albeit slowly.

It looks like a complaint may be easier! Michelin have confirmed that I have to buy two new tyres from Kwik-Fit and they will then send off the two suspect ones for assessment. I pointed out that were the tyres to be serviceable (which I believe they are), then this would not be an environmentally acceptable answer. I can take the tyres to another Michelin dealer for assessment, but they are not obliged to undertake the assessment. ATS aren't answering the phone, National say no, Kwik-Fit is a blind alley. I really don't want to give such a clunky, unhelpful, un customer-centred procedure any more time by phoning tyre centres who have no interest in helping.
I am pleased to say that the process got easier! I was contacted by Lea from Michelin UK who offered to contact a local dealer who would undertake the assessment -in this case, ATS in Welwyn Garden City. When I phoned to book in they knew who I was, and were welcoming when I went, despite it being 5pm last Friday. Their technician said he thought the cracking was due to sun damage, which would explain why only the outside edges were affected.
I have just heard that Michelin accept the claim and will replace the tyres -this I'd despite them having 17k miles on them. They are contacting ATS for me, and I'm happy for them to have the work, the assessment being something of a loss-leader for the branch. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the outcome.
