Q: anyone aware of any velco-backed products which DO stick to the interior carpet? As mentioned, since end 2020 / begin 2021 the cars were given a different / so called improved carpet material. The downside is: none of the previous Alpine storage cases or Amazon cargo nets "stick" to the newer carpet - which is a real PITA!
I'm certainly not - since even the official accessories solution was to supply self adhesive velcro strips (similar to Portti's example above) I had assumed there was no other solution.

I can't see any other solution, apart from perhaps clips similar to cargo net solutions.

As you say the latest Alpine storage cases come with an additional velcro sticky pad, which is the size of the entire rear of the storage box!

Has anyone found a good use for the plastic storage bin between the seats on facelift cars? I find it such an oddity - it's not a particularly useful size or shape, I don't really understand why it exists at all.

It boggles my mind that they didn't make it into a cup holder, at least that would be useful on occasion.

Yup, I hate things in my pockets when driving, so house keys, wallet, phone.

It's the perfect size to wedge in a 1 litre rectangular bottle of Volvic water.

I'm sure it would be fairly easy to fabricate an insert with a cup holder for someone with a 3D printer.

I also find having the car key in my pocket intrusive particularly in the buckets, so find the carbon fibre slot for the key on the centre console actually quite handy.

Ah, I have the storage pack so keys, phone and anything that rattles or might fly out goes in the padded box.

Fitted the new internal storage box to mine today, way more useful than the original cigarette ash cup. i have included a couple of photos showing the removal of the old unit.
The old unit pulls off from the front, just one clip. https://flic.kr/p/2nueVdGhttps://flic.kr/p/2nueVmh
I found the best way to install the new unit was to first fully tighten down the rear 10mm nut before the side 3mm screws to aide their location.
Going back a bit - I managed to order the updated version of this (delivered to a friend in France, then brought it home myself) and installed it today. It's a new version that has a single bracket to attach across the centre console, rather than two separate pieces, but otherwise seems the same. Strangely it came without any side screws. Wondering if this is correct, or whether I need to complain? Anybody else have any experience of this?

Seems sturdy enough without to be fair, and so much easier to reach the water bottle than from the storage pack triangular box thing. Just need to forget the price ... biglaugh
