Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?
Discussion
Deposit down with Lotus on Sunday morning. V6 manual. It will be my last pure ICE new car (only third ever new car) so I don’t want to compromise on spec.
Current thinking is red with ice interior and black pack. Touring rather than Sport chassis configuration.
I’m slightly concerned at what the final price will be but if I keep it quite a long time I guess I will go up to £80 if necessary.

My deposit is in. My preferred dealer alerted and tracking already. Static car available to view in September, trying to find out when I can drive one....
V6 manual for me I think, either blue or red. Pondering the sport setup rather than touring - may need to wait until the test drives come out

Apparently Lotus are logging all deposits by date and time and that will be the place in the queue.
I think this is fantastic, even if it means I wait three years for mine. Centrally controlled and no favouritism
Congratulations Lotus for showing others how to be fair.
But even more congrats for working your arses off to create this car.

I’m sure that high profile people will get them sooner. Just hope us plebs are treated fairly.I think this is fantastic, even if it means I wait three years for mine. Centrally controlled and no favouritism

After 9 years with Porsche i'm turning to Hethel......
Not getting into OPC politics but there are many many reasons I've never bought any of my 4 Porsche's from one - two were from 911 Virgin (997 GTS & Cayman R) and 2 privately from first owners (GT4 and 981 Spyder). I've never enjoyed a single visit to an OPC, overpriced servicing costs, obnoxious & condescending staff, misplaced policies in new car placement etc etc so I can only hope Lotus will offer a breath of fresh air.
Deposit paid - if I can fit my 6ft4 frame inside the car I'm looking forward to 2022 and what will be my 1st brand new car!

V6 Manual is as far as I’ve got
Likewise - V6 & manual 100%, initial thoughts are nimbus grey, black pack, black lightweight wheels, yellow calipers......but I also like the blue and the yellow (wife hates the yellow!)
Won't be sad to miss the Porsche politics

I wonder if they’ll do this only for OL orders and dealers just get an allocation and decide themselves how to allocate - I ordered through a dealer but wish I’d ordered OL now. Do you know when the first time was that someone could place an OL deposit - was it launch night or the next day ? Thanks I think this is fantastic, even if it means I wait three years for mine. I watched the top gear evija test drive and Matt Windle was saying they were planning 5500 cars on one shift for the type 131, but they can put more on. Well that's more than 550 I was hearing on another channel, so I'll go with what Matt said.
Could see 10,000 units PA out of Hethel. I hope they serve the UK first. Hopefully I'm in the first 10,000..

Only Lotus can really give you a definitive answer, my understanding is that all deposits wherever from will be sorted chronologically and managed by Lotus. That’s good enough for me and I’m just going to leave it to them. They are probably a bit overwhelmed right now after the reaction, not having hundreds of staff just to deal with sales admin., expect it’s all being sorted right now but will take a while to reconcile.

As you will appreciate, the whole "allocation" thing is somewhat new to Lotus! However, the understanding is at present that both Lotus have a list of placed deposits/reservations which are date and time stamped. The dealers have the same. The two lists will be combined. When specs are confirmed for engine choices, a further two lists will be compiled so V6 orders will be then allocated in turn and likewise AMG orders.
Sounds a bit awkward but that is the way it "should" be undertaken. And yes, none of this GT car nonsense of dealers deciding who sucks cock the best etc.

Always wondered how people afford £60-£80k cars. How's everyone funding their Lotus Emira? Lotus finance / Independent broker / Bank Loan / Cash?
I'm going to rob the post office....... Wonder if Lotus will take 94,000 first class stamps? In reality - if I sell the Ferrari I will pay in full, if I dont it will be 50% financed

Bit of an odd question to be honest! How does someone afford anything? How did you afford your T350?! Answer will no doubt be different for everyone.
