I still don't get how this attitude has infected buying a car
I know it's been nice running cars for a very short period of time when they didn't lose anything but it was never going to last forever.
I can go out for lunch tomorrow with my wife and instantly lose up to a grand if I want to, all I'm left with is the memories of the experience and what I flush down the toilet the next day.
Different things entirely... I went out last night in Lagos with a friend and ran up a large tab drinking rare Tequillas... I didn't lose money, I spent it doing something I enjoy. ![confused](/inc/images/confused.gif)

For me, I couldn't spend £90,000 on a brand new Emira, when I know an eight month old one with less than 3000 miles is just over £70,000.
It's also 1500N/£ on the black market so there's no chance you lost money!

Just as you prioritise different things someone else may think that getting a brand new Emira that no one else has driven, in exactly the spec they want is worth the spend more than some fancy tequilas might be.
The stock ones on the website are in whatever spec' they were configured in by whoever cancelled the order. So it's full list price for a car in someone else's spec', to be fair. There are delivery mileage 73 plate cars for sale on AT at ~£20k under list, so I think the point is valid. Either way you're compromising on spec', but one is pre-reg'd the other not and it's going to cost £20k more.

I think it just shows we are now back in a more normal car market where unless it is a really special new car, you can lose 20% as soon as you roll it out of the showroom - I still think the Emira is a great looking car & I hope Lotus throttle back production slightly as there's no point in building lots of cars for stock.

Throttle back from almost none to none then?I'm not sure anyone really knows. I heard they were having major issues with heat containment. It seems odd given that a finished car was driven absolutely ages ago. No communication from Lotus. It takes 5 minutes to put a statement out. You have to wonder when heads will start rolling at Hethel why have Geely not parachuted in a fresh management team? Would that be because its not important as the whole takeover is just an IP and asset stripping job?

They need to start making the 4 cylinder like they promised. When's that due now?
The problem they will have is that the pre reg v6s will be cheaper!A 500hp Ermira will be the sweet spot.

That’s a cynical view. I hope you are wrong. While I have your attention, what’s happening with post 2017 Elise prices? The cars available don’t seem to sell, many have been glued to the classifieds for seasons. I’d be happy to see a return to pre Covid prices. 2017/2018 cars, when are still advertised at close to what they cost new close to 7 years ago. highway said:
Why is the i4 so massively delayed?
It’s not delayed, it’s ready. I4 cars are being built now for export to the far east (China). However, Lotus have cocked up, and the car does not have type approval. This all changed on 1st January 2023, I remember when my corvette was delivered in Sept 22, the dealer saying cars had to be handed over before the end of the year as type approval changed from EU to UK. A Brexit thing.
That’s why the press demonstrator(s) that exist are on 72 plates.
I4 deliveries for EU/UK cars won’t be until summer 2024.
£65k now on Autotrader privately.

Most likely will be down to starting with a 5 from January...
That’s a poor colour. That aside, I’d buy one any colour with sub 2k miles at £55k.
I’m looking at 991.2 but they are much older, have many more miles and- the 992 interior makes them look old.
I can’t afford further mission creep leading to consider a 992. They don’t seem to be available much less than £80k.
