I know its not funny, but holy fookery.Guess they couldn't hear the engine .
Can only imagine this kind of thing will get more common when you're not really sure if the car is on or 'in park' and I guess every car will have a different 'gear selector' rather than controls everyone is familiar with. Scary given the weight and torque of ev's...
I have never thought about that angle before, you are completely right though. You get instant feedback from a normal car if it’s going to move before it moves. It’s quite un-nerving actually.

My guess is someone “parked” in hold using the brake pedal and didn’t turn the car off. Foot hits accelerator by accident and you’re off ! The one thing the OPC said to me when I had the loan car was “make sure you turn it off”

Makes sense to me and sounds like something that could very well happen to me .... like taking the foot of the clutch in gear when stopped because I forgot I am in a manual car

Our 4s arrived at the dealer a couple of weeks ago and was meant to be handed over earlier this week. Little over a week ago we were told that it’s been recalled (along with a load of others) by Porsche. No reason given to/by the dealer, and no idea of when it’ll be ready. Car’s just sat at the OPC with the dealer saying that, in spite of chasing, they’re not getting any info back... not really what we were expecting with Porsche.

Anyone else in the same boat or know what’s going on?

Yes, propper scary. It's not like the days of the fixed cable handbrakes either, you don't have to turn these elec ones off to pull away.

I'm on a few Taycan Facebook groups, you're not alone, quite a few people wondering what's going on.

I had heard that there have been quite a few stop sales on some recent deliveries from my salesperson. He was quite frustrated by this. Had customers coming to collect cars he couldn’t give them. Seemed to affect Taycans and Panmeras (hybrid in this case). The inflicted Panamera I saw in the workshop had its entire drivetrain dropped out with a pallet of parts next to it. Hadn’t even turned a wheel on the public road.

Do wonder what it’s all about.

Good point about the handbrake or rather lack of a proper one.

I don't expect it will be too long before consistent gear selector/Park controls and or radar controlled brakes are mandated by regulators.

Has anyone seen any specs for the upcoming 2wd Taycan: “Taycan” or “Taycan S” presumably?

I’m hopeful it could be a sweet spot in the range with decent performance and a lower price.

Interesting, thanks. Hopefully some news next week. Porsche need to explain what’s the problem is...

Push your salesperson. The Panny had a sticker on for “Attention! Something, battery voltage”. I think. Sorry I’ve only got circumstantial information.

Suspect that sticker is probably just to remind the techs that it’s not a standard 12v system.

We’ve been speaking regularly to the dealer but he’s saying that Porsche won’t give him any insight into what is going on.

Does anyone know when import tariffs would become relevant? I.e. date of import or date of first registration/sale?

I wish I’d paid more attention to it. The pallet of parts was at the dealership before the car got there. Something going on for sure. Your dealer knows he just won’t say. smile

You should be fine on import tariffs. It’s when the car lands in the country and that’s already happened right?

Yes, car is at the dealer. Has been now for a couple of weeks.

Still no news from the dealer, who is still saying that Porsche haven’t told them what the issue is... wife’s now gone from excited about picking up her new car to concluding that something serious is wrong with it and being concerned it’s a lemon. Not exactly blown away by the service from Porsche.

Unfortunately my experience so far of Porsche dealers hasn't been massively positive.

I've not even met my sales guy yet as he's always off, the guy I have seen whenever I've been there has been decent at helping me out but my point of contact is never to be seen. His latest email out of office was;

"Thank you for your email. I'm out of the office until further notice. If you need help with anything in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact..."

Maybe I expected more love from them given I'm handing them not far off £250k for 2x Taycans and that's without having a clue whether there will be a 10% uplift come Brexit and the usual Porsche price increase.

On another note, what sort of insurance quotes are you getting and what sort of stipulations i.e. must be garaged? Tracker must be activated?

No, I can imagine, I’d be pretty upset too. If it’s any consolation, knowing Porsche they will sort the issue and you will have a wonderful car to drive, it’s just a case of when. At least you won’t be liable for any additional import duty.

Given the delays, I think the least they could do is give you another car for the time being. That’s what I would push for.

From personal experience Porsche are great at many things....managing the delivery process and any issues that occur with faults isn’t one of them. The communication from Porsche AG to the OPC’s seems pretty awful....I know certainly a year ago the OPC’s have to filter there enquiries to the factory for new cars through two people at Porsche GB known as Vehicle Planning....so when you think there are 40 OPC’s with say a minimum of 10 sales people all those 400 sales peoples enquiries are handled by two people. The computer system that is supposed to keep OPC’s up to date with a cars progress through the various stages of build and transportation also seems wildly inaccurate, I had one car turn up at the OPC when the day before the computer system said it had just left the factory. Christ knows why it’s so bad.

That’s when a car is in build which admittedly is slightly different but I am guessing the means of communication are no better for recalls.
