From personal experience Porsche are great at many things....managing the delivery process and any issues that occur with faults isn’t one of them. The communication from Porsche AG to the OPC’s seems pretty awful....I know certainly a year ago the OPC’s have to filter there enquiries to the factory for new cars through two people at Porsche GB known as Vehicle Planning....so when you think there are 40 OPC’s with say a minimum of 10 sales people all those 400 sales peoples enquiries are handled by two people. The computer system that is supposed to keep OPC’s up to date with a cars progress through the various stages of build and transportation also seems wildly inaccurate, I had one car turn up at the OPC when the day before the computer system said it had just left the factory. Christ knows why it’s so bad.

That’s when a car is in build which admittedly is slightly different but I am guessing the means of communication are no better for recalls.
Porsche are not alone in that.

For example, Local Land Rover dealer has absolutely no idea when their demo cars are arriving.

What I don't get with this is wouldn't any WTO import duty be payable on the import value of the car, not the sales price?

Brexit and duty aside, I assumed ordering and paying a deposit for a car in 2020 would lock in the 2020 price is it really subject to the inevitable 2021 price increase?

I'd heard Porsche were getting people to sign up to the potential for a hike in price. Personally I'd tell them to get stuffed, especially when lodging a large deposit. But some people seem to be so desperate for a car that isn't an option.

Yes, any tariff would be on import value (and then VAT's applied I believe). But I doubt that will stop manufacturers taking the piss. If the actual hike to the importer is, say, 6.5k I would wager Porsche will be looking to ding the customer for a chunk more than that.

Did prices come down massively when Sterling devalued on the vote to leave....?

As above, they are trading on people being desperate for a car and a big fat dose of FOMO. Nice custom if you can get it I guess smile

(Love the Taycan. Have played with the configurator a few times. Just can't love it 110k enough as things stand, even though it would be sensible to run one through the company. Will be interesting to see what used values are like in 3-4yrs).

Mine's due into my OPC at the end of November/early December - fingers crossed it's not one of the affected cars.

The buying process has been a bit strange as it was all done during lockdown, but we ended up getting what I can assume is either a cancelled order or a demonstrator which never got assigned instead of a factory order as my wife's car needs replacing ASAP (Range Rover reliability issues strike again). I haven't been able to discuss a couple of things with the dealership like the Porsche Charging Service - do the cars come with 3yrs usage of Ionity chargers? I also saw that I should be getting an invitation to Silverstone for the a driving experience in the sales contract - do you get your invitation after you've collected the car (I guess if you're waiting 6 months for one then you might do it before, but my order has taken just shy of 3 weeks)?

Invitation should be before. Get in contact with PEC, they might be able to find you in the system and get you booked in.

In terms of the Ionity chargers, the Taycan includes three years of membership which comes with a card for paying at charging stations. Cost of electric is then discounted to 30p/Kw.

I don't think so. One would expect prices to increase though ie you would have needed more gbp to pay for the same amount of euros.

No, I can imagine, I’d be pretty upset too. If it’s any consolation, knowing Porsche they will sort the issue and you will have a wonderful car to drive, it’s just a case of when. At least you won’t be liable for any additional import duty.

Given the delays, I think the least they could do is give you another car for the time being. That’s what I would push for.
They were hinting that a car would be available if needed but we’ve got a reasonable number so don’t need to take them up on that. In any event, it’s the (continued) lack of information that’s a bigger concern.

Discounted to 30p/kWh, wow, that's a Porsche tax on electricity!

Try rolling up to an Ionity charger without a discount....friggin expensive ! I had a Taycan loan about a month ago 150 miles of range cost £35....I think Taffy said at the time that would have been about £20 with the Porsche rates. You pay royally for that charge speed.

Thanks for the info Cheib and Taffy66. I think my local Ionity is 69p/kw so the Porsche rate is a pretty decent discount and I'm hoping their reliability will be a bit better than say, Ecotricity, which seem to take your money and never actually charge the car.

I don't have a charge point at home and wont be able to install one for a few months yet, am I going to damage the battery if I use a 150kw charger once or twice a week? I've just taken on an office near Milton Keynes coach station and was planning on charging there, I've also signed up to Polar and could use one of their 7kw chargers, but Ionity would be free.

According to Porsche there is no problem with our recalled Taycan. Dealer either doesn’t have any knowledge of or isn’t saying what the concern was, but it sounds like they’re all being released now. Collecting Friday.

The Ionity charger I used was the one at MK....lonely place at 9pm on a winter's evening! There was nobody else using the Ionity chargers or the ones next to them which were a different network.

Is the 3 years membership transferable? In other words is there a secondary market for it? 39p/kWh saving is worth having...

Intertesting to see that Audi are offering "not to pass on any post-Brexit tariffs to orders placed before 17:30 on 2 December 2020 and delivered on or before the 31st March 2021". I wonder if others will follow suit.

Its stays with the Taycan for three years from the date of first registration and transfers with the car when sold.

I collected mine yesterday and gave it a charge at Ionity today - sadly at full price because it's taking ages for Porsche to activate the charging service and other connected features. I seem to recall it taking a long time for my Macan to come online too.

Rubbish photo of it in the dark, it's filthy already!

I was speaking to a salesman for another brand yesterday...subject of Taycan came up. "About 15 of my clients have bought them, they all bought them to play the RS allocation game....pretty much all of them were surprised at how good it was"

I suspect that's your answer....
