One would love to know the thinking behind these changes; Ypres & Ulster are off the mainland and potentially more expensive...and the Malcolm Wilson is an interesting one; especially from a spectator point of view.
I may be wrong but when the British Historics were part of the Ypres Historic I 'think' that requests went out to locals to accommodate crews to reduce costs. Not sure if the same applied to BRC for the times they were there?
As Ypres is back in its traditional slot in June hopefully it's dropped itself from WRC in which case I will go back...

I would think while Neuville is around, it might stay on the calendar.
It had already been announced back in August that Ypres wouldn't be WRC in 2023. It's been confirmed (and the reasons why) today:https://www.ypresrally.com/en/content/news/ardeca-...

Malton Forest Rally in the Yorkshire forests on Sunday 6th Nov too. If it’s anything like the Trackrod it’ll be excellent spectating.

Nice selection of cars on that too, even a 2 stroke Saab. https://www.maltonmc.co.uk/malton-forest-rally/

I've always wanted to go to Ypres, and this year was a target for a boys weekend to celebrate a significant birthday.
However, it clashes with a different rally commitment
We went this year for a mini-lads weekend. However, it clashes with a different rally commitment
The feedback from the many locals and regular spectators was - it's good to see the WRC cars on the stages, but the way the 3 WRC1 teams took over the town square wasn't great. So now, it should be back to normal with good access for all. A very easy rally to spectate on.

That's what we were hoping.
TBH, having been involved in the WRC I'd much prefer to see it back as a 'normal' rally as you say, with better access and a more genial atmosphere. The problem is that many of us who would be going are all involved in the same rally that weekend.
Same weekend as Argyll and Hambleton Stages?TBH, having been involved in the WRC I'd much prefer to see it back as a 'normal' rally as you say, with better access and a more genial atmosphere. The problem is that many of us who would be going are all involved in the same rally that weekend.

What about one of the rounds of the German Championship? THe German series does not sadly great numbers, the quality of stages is excellent however and some of the cars.
I would suggest the one about this time of year that goes round the old industrial landscape in East Germany, it's gravel too so you get some good entries.
or the Eifel festival for a bit more of a fun type event.
I always fancied Deutschland as an WRC event too, Hunsruck with a bit of other stuff added.

a bit beyond budget that one!
We did talk about Barbados and going to other disciplines such as Daytona 24hr or Le Mans.
Duncan, you're right - it's the Argyll
The difficulty is that as we've been involved in rallying and motorsport for a very long time, we do seek an event with real character as well as the opportunity for a good night out. That rules out the WRC as we'd just be part of the heard. Some other events however......
