Very cool. I'm a huge Unimog fan. Sadly even used ones are a little bit pricey for me. You can't exactly get them for sub £5k like you can most used off road 4x4's.
As for Agri. I think it is a little bit of a grey area and probably rather abused.
But a quick look on the dot gov site:

I'd suggest if yours is Agri and it isn't used on a farm, forestry sort of thing. Then you might be treading a thin line legally. And sadly if it isn't registered as agri, you'll need the appropriate LGV licence I believe.
I am afraid you are incorrect, a unimog is not an agricultural Vehicle it is an agricultural tractor and that is an important distinction the rules are different between "vehicles" and "tractors". As for Agri. I think it is a little bit of a grey area and probably rather abused.

I would agree you probably wouldn't want to buy one which is less than 5k but good ones can be had for less then 10K

Re the Grenadier.
No doubt the company, and Jim Ratcliff, will be keen to discover how much serious interest (in terms of actual pre-orders and deposits) this reveal will generate. Others with a watchful eye will be those sporting activities he has sponsored to promote the Grenadier name, notably through his purchase and sponsorship of the Sky cycling team and taking over sponsorship (from Land Rover no less) of the UK challenge for the next America's cup by Ben Ainslie. These are serious commitments and to a degree, it seems to me, also commit him to seeing the project through to production and sale.
It's pretty much 100% certain this vehicle will make production! Jim couldn't back down now, not after what he's said and been quoted as saying. No doubt the company, and Jim Ratcliff, will be keen to discover how much serious interest (in terms of actual pre-orders and deposits) this reveal will generate. What is less certain is what volume gets produced, sold, and for how long? He's pretty rich, i'd imagine he could put up with loosing money on each car he sold for a fair old while, but the automotive industry is second only to the aerospace industry for making rich men poor.........

Do you have a dot gov link showing the difference between an agricultural tractor and an agricultural vehicle. Thanks.I would agree you probably wouldn't want to buy one which is less than 5k but good ones can be had for less then 10K
I think the difference is a tractor has to specifically be designed as one, for the purposes of pulling/pushing/carrying stuff, whereas any vehicle can be an agricultural one if it is registered as such.
There's a specific type approval of "tractor", but I can't remember what the details are. Wouldn't surprise me if the Unimog counted though.
I didn't think it made any difference regarding VED/use limitations whether something was a tractor or a more generic agricultural vehicle, though IIRC you can drive a "proper" tractor at 16.

The BMW deal has a distinct whiff of 'lifestyle appeal', with a soupçon of hypocrisy.
eh? Do you not relaise BMW engines had been in Land Rover's for decades.... even the Defender 90.- Defender - 6cyl Petrol
- P38 - 6cyl Diesel
- Freelander 1 - 4cyl Diesel
- L322 - V8 Petrol & 6cyl Diesel

He has a point, as much as the 3l BMW is desirable, it's not exactly a commercial engine.

And for outside of Europe a simpler non-turbo petrol would be preferable for a real utility vehicle. Or generally just older generation engines that are simpler I guess; but that's not realistic.
I've just seen that the iconic 70-series Landcruiser in Australia is now only sold with a 4.5L V8 turbo diesel. So perhaps this Grenadier isn't too wide of the mark in terms of engines.

Hopefully, unlike JLR, Ineos will source engines that are more emissions-friendly and fit for (load-lugging) purpose.
