Detling - seasons opener
Discussion
well i asked the same question on another site recently and the response was far from overwhelming.......
any of you good folks planning on going? the organizers this year are Grosvenor who put on Stoneleigh and the new exhibition hall wil be used for the first time.
Hoping that the weather will be kind as currently we have about 40 of us from skcc scheduled to go along on the Saturday. Feel free to wander over for a banter - i'm sure that you won't miss our pitch :-)

Does anybody know what kit car manufacturers are going to be displaying?

Interesting that Pilgrim are listed when I haven't even been contacted (let alone booked).http://www.detlingkitcarshow.co.uk/Kent_Kit_Car_Cl...
Also interesting to note that many of the purported exhibitors aren't actually in business anymore (eg Dutton, Eagle, Nova, Rickman, Jago, Etc).
I also note that 'Cobra' and 'Lotus 7' are booked to attend as well.
List seems well padded.
I wonder how many manufacturers are actually booked?

personally i dont care who's there as a manufacturer and who's not and i suspect that many owners dont either.......a show is what the individuals make it. I knwo for those that are building and need odd n sods or a bit of advice teh trade stalls are useful as opposed to wandering and killing time but surely most go for a day out to catch up with both new and old pals.....
let's hope the weather is kind to us all for the easter period and we can all get our cars out and enjoy them in whatever way we see fit......

Interesting business strategy "padding out" one that I've not come across before in the kit car scene Perhaps in this case its a genuine reference to kitcar owners clubs of past and present models that are venturing out for the day as well as the manufacturers that will be there.
Well, it may interest you to know that I booked a stand for the Furore F1 at the end of last week & I believe I got the last of the standard size stands, all that is left are a few of the small ones, so whoever these fictitious manufacturers are they are at least booking stands & intending to display!
I'm aware of the manufacturers on the stands around me & can at least confirm you'll be able to see stuff there other than 7 & Cobra clones.
Let's hope it's a good show, but unfortunately if sufficient people "trash talk" it on here or other forums then no one will bother going & a show without public won't be much use to anyone! Why don't we actually try talking the industry up a little instead of constantly putting it down?
The show is going to be pretty much full with regard to the available space for manufacturers in the exhibition hall so why don't you all get down there to take a look at the latest fare?

I'm definitely going, really looking forward to it. Luckily I have low expectations as last couple of years have been a bit lack lustre and the weather was terrible. Its looking bad again this year so will be in the tin top (boo no cheap entry).
I have a different frame of mind as I'll be going as a potential new manufacturer, not a punter this time!

Just got back. To be honest I found it slightly disappointing this year. It seemed much smaller than last year, or was it 2010? Only one hall was being used, as opposed to the 3 halls nearby.
I think MEV are probably the most interesting company at the moment. The Atomic with the engine in the passenger compartment looks like a lot of fun.

Just got back too, horrible weather as ever, but some nice cars in the club areas outside. Show seems to be getting smaller each year, and it's really just a show for owners/builders, there's nothing there to entice non-kit people onto the scene. Especially as kit drivers get in free, but possible would be new buyers have to pay a tenner for a small show with few manufacturers in attendance.
GBS seemed to do a roaring trade, Quantum Xtreme and GKD Legend both looked good, and MEV had some nice looking cars on the stand but surprised they didn't bring a MEVX5.
Nothing new this year, still the same old 7s and Ferrari kits; would be great to see some variety in terms of the kit manufacturers bringing something new and exciting onto the scene, or maybe there's just not enough money in it these days.

I find Lordbenny's comment interesting too.
Sending out lists of defunct exhibitors is definitely not a good idea.
I cannot go I am in Italy: I wish the organisers well.

The Glamis from Rogue Motorsport was interesting, I can see the Disco based version making a fun and pretty practical road car.The GKD had a pretty tidy supercharger installation which they are hoping to offer for well under £1000.
Anybody else notice the trailer the jacked up Exocet was sitting on? It tilts and lowers so no ramps are needed, a nice bit of design by Stuart, it may not be for sale but it shows a talent for innovation and a drive to do things his own way.
Fair enough, it was a bit sparse but there was also some quality there, be a shame if it gets canned because the organisers think no one will bother turning up next year.
