Hawk Stratos prices

P1doc, if you have less than £25k I would not even bother trying to build a Hawk and do it justice. You would probobly be better off with one of the other less authentic ones.
i am coming to that conclusion as well to be honest so second hand or wait till i have more moneymartin
If anything, it would cost more to build one with a Beta twin cam than an Alfa V6. Alfa engines are plentiful now. There's little point in coosing anything other than an Alfa. It's the right engine for the job. (Says he with a Beta engined Hawk.) Tuned Beta engines are now sought after by Monte owners. They seem to sell for around £1200 to £1500 recently.
There's no way you can build a Hawk to the spec of the yellow car that's for sale at the moment for £20k. You could only do that from a secondhand unfinished kit, and it would still be a struggle. Then there's the time to factor in. Unfinished kits come up for sale even less often than 'finished' cars these days. I can't remember when I last saw a Hawk that was for sale and unfinished. There was an Allora recently on eBay, but it was snapped up very quickly. It started at £6500, but was sold, before any bidding happened.
I will be selling my Hawk Stratos sometime soon. It won't be cheaper than the yellow one, despite the lack of cylinders.

The bulk of Stratos replicas have solid discs on the rear. They don't really need 4 pots and vents for road use.
Personalising the car, is an advantage of building from a new or part built kit, but this yellow Hawk is still a good buy.
It is easier to find 'things' to spend money on with a Stratos replica, compared to a production car.
I've lost count of the cars in Alitalia livery. It's the iconic colour scheme, but it's been nearly done to death.
It's easier to change the colour on a finished car than having all the hassle of preparing the bodywork from scratch.
One of the very best examples of cars painted in the later Alitalia livery is Vince Abbott's, which was one of the very first Alitalia cars.
Not many cars come close for the authentic look. Despite the RHD It's more convincing than a few genuine cars. The chap who owns the new 430 engined Stratos mistook it for a real Stratos at Race Retro this year.
i do like the alitalia look but can see your point coming from subarus wr blue gold wheels etc,i dont really want to sell my murtaya-getting someone to buy it at a good price is a whole different matter lol but at same time cannot justify having 2 kit cars ann alfa and a forester and normally working 7 day weeks but definitely want a stratos but tempted by 2.0l turbo rather than v6 but would any other stratos owners talk to me lol
think hawk can do alitalia as gel colouring i read somewhere?
just read about alfav6 turbocharged mmmmm best of both worlds!

No more than a handful come up for sale each year. Plus, there's strong demand for fully road registered cars from Europe. They're finding it extremely difficult in some countries to build and register a car. So, they import one from here and either drive it as it is, or convert it to LHD.martin

The correct name for the car is in fact Strato's. As in "belonging to Strato". I once had a delicious debate with a chap on here which only ended when I dug up an email from Bertone to one of our club members confirming the fact.
Although, even then, the guy wouldn't believe me. Pistonheads: not backing down in an argument matters!

I really don't know the prices of these things so maybe the price reflects it?
Exactly.![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
Irrespective of whether it is cheap enough to warrant the condition, you said;

I was just surprised you could not see anything to do to it? Maybe you are just more easily pleased than me....I can't see anything in the photos?

I've seen the Lister Bell up close and it's not a patch on the Hawk. But it's also a bit like saying £10k isn't a patch on £30k.
Comparing the Lister Bell to the real deal is like saying an MR2 with a Ferrari kit is as good as an F430. Two very different cars
The lister bell looks like a much, much better kit, so are you saying in terms of originality?Comparing the Lister Bell to the real deal is like saying an MR2 with a Ferrari kit is as good as an F430. Two very different cars
