The Kit Car Design Thread

I always liked ginettas and the G 27, and just
found the new g27 restyled by Richard Ashby.
What do you think of this new car?
check it out on: www.gkdsportscars.com

THANKYOU for posting the pics!!!!!!
The first one is the Mid engined seven. It's about 2 to 3 inches taller than a normal seven to allow the engine to fit. I have actually measured the height of my Ford Focus 1.6 and it will fit under the rear "power bulge".
The second one is a more conventional middy. I imagine it with Ferrari style round rear lights and a front along the lines of a Maserati Spyder. Again the rear hump over the rear wheels is to clear a transverse engine. I've tried to avoid the wedge shape common to many middys using a conventional transverse drivetrain.
The final one is inspired by late fifties and early sixties race cars such as the Porsche 550 and 718RSK and the Aston DBR1. I envisage it with an Audi gearbox mated to an Alfa V6. One touch I'd considered was to have scissor doors like the Renault Spyder and not having any panelling on the chassis sides - With the door open you'd see polished chromed spaceframe tubes and a red leather seat on a sheet floor, no conventional side to the cockpit at all!

Cymtriks, I really like the first picture. There's a lot of potetnial in that, with the amount of good FWD cars in scrapyards now. Might have to have a go myself when finances allow...
I don't mind the GKD, it looks a bit different to the Furys and G27s(as it is based on) available when you look for a kit of this type. There's something very Dodge Viper about the front too.
Original drawing:
vs actual car:
Interesting how differently ideas translate from paper into the real world.

I've designed some bodykits (yeah, but it pays the bills) and unless you are on hand day to day, the final result can bare no relation to the original concepts (and I can draw)
I'm busy with other stuff for a few weeks, then I'll revisit this thread. In the meantime heres a design from a few years ago of a kit car design that didnt happen and my final year project which 'someone' very rich was going to have built, but didnt (even though they borrowed and f***** the model!)

thanks Mark.
This was a sketch I did a few years ago for an updated Morgan, just as the Aero 8 appeared to the public.
I kept the same proportion of the Aero 8, and in fact I used the Aero 8 pictures on Pistonheads as an underlay, and drew this new sketch.
Still classical but with more modern lines.

I use a couple of different packages.
It depends on how accurate you want your chassis.
I use Solidworks for measurement critical bits.
Poser for people (cos its easy)
Wings3d for final assembly and seats and stuff.
That 7 chassis is knocked together and is "near as dammit".
PM me if you want me to take a look at it.

Vojx
can't see your new designs.
In reference to the GKD ( ex - ginetta g 27), I always thought this was an e-type jaguar inspired car, for the less well off.
I would have kept that look, and got inspiration from the aborted F-type jaguar for this new restyling update.
The G27 would be a very good basis for an F-type inspired kit.
