Are those spring/damper top mounts made of aluminium? nono

do a search on ebay for "LED trailer lights".......you will find hundreds of the things at sensible cost.......I have just installed these to my UVA fugitive beach buggy/sand rail

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LED-compact-trailer-boat-mot...

wired them up and they look the nuts, although the indicators are now ticking fast, but this is a common problem which is fixed with a new LED friendly relay for about a tenner.

Sorry Rob. I wouldn't have a clue what they are made out of??? What I do know is that since the Saker was built in the late 80's that part has never failed and as shown below have supported many different engine formats and campaigned successfully here in NZ and throughout Europe, Australia, USA and now Asia.

Also Bruce Turnbull the creator of Saker was responsible for the chassis development of the Hulme F1 super-car and also received an award for excellence from the Institute of Design and Technology here in NZ so I would think he knows what he is doing and am fairly confident the mounts will perform.

Thanks for your concern tho. Have you built a car from scratch yourself? Post some pics up if you have. I'd be keen to see what you've done smile

Sorry I know it's personal preference but those look hideous IMO. Probably look great on your buggy smile

For me replacement bits and backup service was important so that's why I went for something from Hella rather than ebay. I originally wanted Lotuse Exige lights but they were real pricey.

That's cool. They should be of a suitable material then. :-)

Not undertaken a scratch build myself yet but have had to fabricate a fair few parts on my Fisher Fury build: http://www.robcollingridge.com/kitcar/

A scratch build will come a bit later, when I have more spare time :-(

Hahaha I'm glad you find it amusing. It wouldn't be the first Saker to be road legal though. I think there is about 7 or so that are currently road registered? They're actually quite friendly on the road with good clearance etc.

Hi Rob. Yeah I'm sure they'll be fine. The Fury looks great. You've done a tidy job. Tell me, is the two LED type lamps centre rear both reversing LED's or is one a backing camera?

P.S I know what you mean with the time thing rolleyes

There is no reverse or reversing light. It's a bike-engined car (R1). The lower one is a foglight (UK legal requirement for SVA) and the higher one is a high-level brake light. The digital video camera is on the front here under the indicator:

Oh O.K. From your website I knew it was a BEC but didn't realise you had no reverse. I came very close to importing a XTR2 prior to buying the Saker. Had an agreed purchase etc and the buyer stalled so long on paying for my 911 Turbo that due to the rapid increase in the exchange rate it was no longer a sensible option ($7K increase) so I brought the Saker. Anyway the XTR2's can have a reverse with an electric starter (I'm sure you know this) so I assumed yours had one. The other option is a Qauife although they are pricey.

No reverse has only been a problem once so far (in 20 months of driving), even on the local narrow country lanes. Just need to plan ahead a bit more!

I didn't want the extra weight of any reverse gubbins. Less is more :-)
