Well the weather forcast looks OK for the weekend
Who's going to the show then ?
Was your car either the red Spyder that was doing laps round the track, or the blue one?
I was taken round in the red one for a few laps, great fun It seemed pretty well planted as well, apart from a slight wiggle coming out of one corner. Shame I can't afford one though

Yes I was driving the red one ! The track was very slippery in the morning due to the previous day's rain and a lot of rubber put down by 2 day's of formula BMW testing earlier in the week.
The grip was much better in the afternoon (Until it rained again !)
I'm glad you thought it was fun and the "slight Wiggle" was mainly down to suspension settings being a bit soft and a damp track. (Especially under the trees !)

Yay, I actually met you! I though about saying something like "are you on pistonheads" but didn't for some reason. The spyder was the first car I went out in. I was actually expecting the car to be a bit slower or have more "wiggles" around the track, so I was impressed with the way it gripped! I really want one now, I just wish I could afford one Don't suppose you know of any cars going cheap?
I also went out in a Westfield after your GTM, and that was totally mental. 200bhp and it weights about as much as a feather, but not practical at all. Then I went out in a vindicator...well, these pictures sums it up: . Lets just say I was very happy to be getting out of that one...
Cheap for a GTM- second hand Libras start about 8k, which should get you a 1600cc car. 1.8's and VVC's (most of them) go for between 9 and 11k. V6's more...... It depends on what you regard as "cheap" i suppose!, and what spec the car is. If you look for one and want to do track work, it MUST have the anti-rollbars fitted or budget £600 to fit some, or you WILL have monster oversteer!

The GTM is quite a bit heavier than the 7 type cars and they have quite a large power to weight ratio advantage but my spyder currently has standard brakes and no anti roll bars at present so I know it will improve on the track when it stops better and corners better.
It also has standard Toyo proxis tyres so the grip is quite impressive in standard road going trim.
By the time the show returns next year I should have the upgrades done so it will be interesting to see how much better she goes.
I'll keep an eye out for any Libras that come up for sale and post it on here for you.
Glad you enjoyed your day and got to try some differant cars.
I was due to go out for a run in one of the MAC#1 cars later in the day but it maneged to reverse into the Armco (not too much damage and nobody hurt luckilly !) so I decided to leave it until another time.
Thanks to Gareth from team GTM for the laps in the red Libra - not his apparently, so whoever's car it was must trust him! Just curious: does anyone know whether that car had the anti-roll bars or the big brakes? He overtook a couple of caterfield types, so seemed like we were doing ok.
Oh, and I went up in a TVR (not mine) and bits did fall off...

Hey Ferg, was it my old car getting used as I intended??
Thanks carconnoisseur. I'd hoped you'd get the Strati in there, particularly the full rally rep which was superb. The lower Stratos had a Ferarri V8 fitted which sounded rather nice.
Did you get any detail pics of the Kelform chassis, it was by far the best piece of space frame design I've seen in the kit car sector. It was funny to wander a bit further down the garages to look at the Robin Hoods who have obviously heard of triangulation but just dont hold with it.
