today was the first time i drove a seven with a quaife ATB diff (ford sierra type).

what i was concerned about:

during acceleration on a straight road the car tended to pull to the right.

i think it has to do with the diff.

does it indicate that the diff is not ok or do i need to live with that?

car has been recently corner weighted. giving 50:50 balance front to rear, left to right and diagonal.

also suspension-geometry was set-up recently with new tyres.

it was set by a well knwon motorsport company...i dont know how they did it, as the actual car owner gave them the order. its existing a protocol from b4 and after.

tyre pressure was checked and found to be equal on the axle.

"Is there any reason you think it might be the diff, or is it just blind suspicion based on the fact that it is a Quaife ATB and therefore obviously voodoo?"

the reason why i asked is the following:

its the first time i drove a car with an ATB diff and its the first car which pulls to the right during acceleration.

none of my other (live axled) kitcars and the westfield IRS have done something similar, even when the wheel alignment wasnt set properly.

so thats why my first estimation was the diff.

this morning a mate of mine phoned me. he was out with his "gearbox" specialist last nite and he asked him about my diff concern.

the reply was "if it is a torsen diff, its known from some of those diffs to act like that"...

i will check everything when the car is driveable again....alternator belt snapped and damaged crank-sensor...belt snapped cause the alternator was fixed in a dodgy way, cause of clearance problems with a chassis tube, resulting in the pulleys (engine, water-pump, alternator) not beeing aligned.
interesting is that the belt was changed every few months by the (two) former owners garages!!! a big compliment to the technical knowledge of today´s garages!!!

the pulling to the right only appeared under heavy acceleration, not under "normal" driving conditions...ok, what is "normal" driving in a seven-type kitcar?? hehe

oh...good to know....but as the former car ownewr told me it was a complete diff, incl. housing, where the fixing brackets broke of and therefore a garage changed the internals to a original ford housing i doubt that they will replace it.

anyway...lets give it a try.

do you have a link where this lifetime guarantee could be read?

no...not necessary. unbolted driveshafts, unbolted propshaft, unbolted diff from chassis. thats it.
